A vehicle accessory such as an armrest includes a base having an open compartment, a cover pivotally mounted to the base for covering the compartment, and a transferably mounted drawer movable between a retracted storage position so that the drawer is retained on the cover, and an extended use position so that the drawer is retained on the base. The base and cover include a latching system that releases the drawer permitting movement of the drawer when the cover is closed, but preventing removal of the drawer from the cover when the drawer is in the stored position and the cover is open. In a preferred embodiment, the drawer includes a container holder therein.

A visor includes an integral, focussed and recessed lamp assembly positioned at a corner of the visor and inclined and directed away from the driver's eyes to provide courtesy and map illumination with a minimal of distraction to the driver. The visor provides directable illumination for use as a maplamp or floorlamp by movement of the visor position.

A mirror is mounted to the roof of a vehicle by a pivot arm assembly for pivotally coupling the mirror to a vehicle for movement from side to side and for movement between a raised stored position and a lowered use position. In a preferred embodiment, the pivot arm has one end pivotally mounted to a housing for storably receiving the mirror and an opposite end coupled to the mirror using both a hinge and a ball joint to allow compact storage of the mirror in the housing and full adjustability for use.

An open framework is designed with parallel curvilinear rails which form windows for receiving multiple inserts such that various console storage components to define different console arrangements can be easily constructed. Such construction allows users to select a console configuration for their use even on an individual trip basis. Also such flexibility allows dealers to provide aftermarket options for the basic console after the original vehicle purchase.
