A coaxial cable connector for coupling a coaxial cable to an equipment port, the coaxial cable including a center conductor surrounded by a dielectric material, the dielectric material being surrounded by an outer conductor, the coaxial cable connector including: a post including a first end adapted to be inserted into a prepared end of the coaxial cable between the dielectric material and the outer conductor, wherein the post includes a second end including an enlarged shoulder, wherein the enlarged shoulder has a radial face that faces away from the first end of the post, wherein the radial face is substantially flat; a body member adjacent to the post; a coupler including an internally-threaded region for engaging the equipment port; and a grounding member contacting the post and the coupler, wherein the grounding member provides an electrically-conductive grounding path through the post and the coupler while allowing the coupler to rotate, wherein the grounding member includes at least one resilient portion.

A coaxial cable connector for attachment to an end of a coaxial cable is disclosed. The coaxial cable connector includes a rotatable body segment having a body wall with an outer surface and an inner surface defining a width of the body wall. The body wall has a radial dimension which varies along a perimeter of the rotatable body segment. The inner surface defines a longitudinal opening extending between a forward end of the rotatable body segment and a rearward end of the rotatable body segment. A post positions proximal the forward end of the rotatable body segment. The post has a first end and a second end with a bore extending therebetween. The post is rotationally stationary with respect to the rotatable body segment. A coupling member positions proximal to the first end of the post. The rotatable body segment is rotated to close the coaxial cable connector.

Rotate-to-close connector for a coaxial cable

Connectors and methods for attaching connectors to one or more cables and/or conduits are disclosed. In one example, a coaxial cable connector for connecting a coaxial cable comprising an inner conductor, an insulator layer surrounding the inner conductor, an outer conductor layer surrounding the insulator layer and an outer jacket is provided. The coaxial cable connector includes a front body comprising an opening for receiving at least a portion of a coaxial cable. The front body includes a plurality of rearward facing projections. A back nut sub-assembly includes a back nut and a retainer coupled to the back nut. The back nut is adapted to couple to the front body and the retainer is adapted to receive a least a portion of the coaxial cable. The retainer includes a plurality of forward facing protrusions adapted to engage the plurality of rearward facing protrusions when the back nut is coupled to the front body.

Coaxial cable connector

A coaxial cable connector for coupling an end of a coaxial cable to a terminal is disclosed. The connector has a post assembled with a coupler. The post is adapted to receive an end of the coaxial cable and comprises a front end, an enlarged shoulder at the front end, and a plurality of contacting portions. The contacting portions are of monolithic construction with the post, collectively circumscribe the enlarged shoulder at the front end of the post, and extend in a generally perpendicular orientation with respect to a longitudinal axis of the connector. The coupler is rotatably attached to the post and comprises an internally projecting lip, having a forward facing surface, adapted to couple the connector to the terminal. The contacting portions are configured to contact the forward facing surface of the lip of the coupler.

Coaxial cable connector with integral RFI protection

A coaxial cable connector for attachment to an end of a coaxial cable is disclosed. The coaxial cable connector has a body having a forward end and a rearward end. An internal surface extends between the forward end and the rearward end defining a longitudinal opening and with a cable receiving area proximal the rearward end and a jacket stop proximal the forward end. A post is positioned in the body proximal the forward end and has a first end and a second end with a bore extending therebetween. An insulator is movably disposed in the bore of the post and has a through-passage and a movement limiter. A gripping member is disposed within the longitudinal opening of the body proximal the rearward end and provides a gripping action as the gripping member axially moves toward the forward end of the body.

Connector for a coaxial cable

A coaxial cable connector for attachment to an end of a coaxial cable is disclosed. The coaxial cable connector has a body having a forward end and a rearward end. An internal surface extends between the forward end and the rearward end defining a longitudinal opening and with a cable receiving area proximal the rearward end and a jacket stop proximal the forward end. A post is positioned in the body proximal the forward end and has a first end and a second end with a bore extending therebetween. An insulator is movably disposed in the bore of the post and has a through-passage, and a movement limiter. A gripping member is disposed within the longitudinal opening of the body proximal the rearward end and provides a gripping action as the gripping member axially moves toward the forward end of the body.

A post-less, self-gripping coaxial cable connector for tool-less attachment to an end of a coaxial cable is disclosed. The coaxial cable connector has a body having a forward end and a rearward end and a longitudinal opening. A retainer positioned in the body has a forward section, a rearward section, and a bore. A ring is movably disposed in the retainer. A gripping member having at least one spring finger is friction fit to the body and is radially inwardly biased in a predisposed orientation. The ring has a pusher feature configured to axially move the ring upon force being applied to the pusher feature by a coaxial cable received by the body causing the gripping member to engage the jacket of the coaxial cable when the coaxial cable is installed in the coaxial cable connector.

Post-less, self-gripping connector for a coaxial cable

Connectors and methods for attaching connectors to one or more cables and/or conduits are disclosed. The disclosed connectors and methods may secure an outer surface of the cable (e.g., an outer jacket of a cable) or conduit. A connector, for example, may include a coupler comprising an inner surface defining an coupler inner bore; a retainer comprising an inner surface defining a retainer inner bore configured to receive the inner conductor and insulator layer of a coaxial cable and an outer angled rear facing surface configured to extend between the insulator layer and the outer conductor layer of the coaxial cable, the retainer disposed within the inner bore of the coupler; a hub engaged to the retainer and disposed at least partially within the inner bore of the coupler, the hub rotatably engaged with the coupler, the hub further comprising an outer angled forward facing surface at least partially opposing the outer angled rear facing surface of the retainer, wherein the outer angled rear facing surface of the retainer and the outer angled forward facing surface of the hub are configured to secure the outer conductor layer between the outer angled rear facing surface of the retainer and the outer angled forward facing surface of the hub.

Connectors and methods for attaching connectors to one or more cables and/or conduits are disclosed. The disclosed connectors and methods may secure an outer surface of the cable (e.g., an outer jacket of a cable) or conduit. A front coupler sleeve engages a sub-assembly comprising a back coupler sleeve and an actuator sleeve disposed around the cable or conduit. During engagement of an inner surface of the front coupler sleeve and an outer surface of the back coupler sleeve, an at least partially annular protrusion of the back coupler sleeve is displaced radially inwardly to secure the outer surface of the cable or conduit.

Cable or conduit connector with jacket retention feature

A coaxial cable connector comprising an assembled coupler, body, and post is provided. The back end of the post and the back end of the body are adapted to receive an end of a coaxial cable. The coupler further comprises a central passage, a lip with a forward facing surface and a rearward facing surface, and a bore forward of the lip, and is adapted to couple the connector to a coaxial cable terminal. The post further comprises a collar portion and an enlarged shoulder disposed forward of the lip of the coupler within the bore of the coupler. The enlarged shoulder of the post is disposed forward of the collar portion of the post. A contacting portion of the post comprises an extension of the collar portion of the post and at least a portion of the enlarged shoulder of the post comprises a proximity feature.

A stripping tool includes and body portion and a clamping arm. The stripping tool further includes a stripping blade having a blade edge. The stripping blade extends from the body portion, and the blade edge is offset from the clamping arm at a distance d such that the blade edge enters the insulator layer of the coaxial cable when the coaxial cable is positioned between the clamping arm and the body portion. The stripping tool further includes a retention element disposed at the body portion at a position after the stripping blade along a cable insertion direction. The retention element is positioned to contact the outer layer of an end portion of the coaxial cable when the coaxial cable is positioned between the clamping arm and the body portion and the stripping tool is in the closed position.

Stripping tools and methods for preparing coaxial cables

Coring augers, tools, methods, and connectors for preparing an end of a coaxial cable for introduction of a flowable medium into the end are disclosed. The disclosed methods and tools may form a frustoconical dielectric portion at an end of the coaxial cable. An annular space formed between the outer conductor and the frustoconical dielectric portion may facilitate the introduction of the flowable medium into the annular space. The disclosed methods and tools may also flare an outer conductor at the end of the coaxial cable and engage the flared outer conductor in a corresponding flared connector.

Coring augers and tools for preparing an end of a coaxial cable for introduction of a flowable medium into the end

Connectors including apertures for grounding outer conductors of conduits and connectors including grounding grooves for grounding outer conductors of conduits are disclosed. In some embodiments, a connector includes a bore, a gripping portion axially surrounding the bore, a generally cylindrical aperture for receiving a grounding wire, and a securing port for securing the grounding wire in the aperture. An exterior gripping surface of the gripping portion is symmetric. The generally cylindrical aperture extends along an aperture centerline through at least a portion of the gripping portion. The securing port extends along a securing port centerline and intersects the generally cylindrical aperture. In other embodiments, a connector includes a grounding groove extending at least partially around an outer diameter of the connector that is adapted to receive the grounding wire, and a securing port longitudinally offset from the grounding groove and extending along a securing port centerline.

Connectors including apertures for grounding outer conductors of conduits and connectors including grounding grooves for grounding outer conductors of conduits

A surge-protected coaxial termination includes a metallic outer body, a center conductor extending through a central bore of the outer body, and a spark gap created therebetween to discharge high-voltage power surges. A plurality of dielectric insulators surrounds the center conductor on opposite sides of the spark gap. High impedance inductive zones surround the spark gap to form a T-network low pass filter that nullifies the additional capacitance of the spark gap. An enlarged portion of a center conductor mitigates deleterious effects of arcing. An axial, carbon composition resistor is disposed inside the outer body, and inside the dielectric insulator to absorb the RF signal, and prevent its reflection.
