Systems, methods, and devices for conducting wireless communication are provided. One method includes identifying a location of a device and obtaining spectrum usage data from a database. The spectrum usage data indicates a licensed entity licensed within an area including the location of the device to communicate across a first sub-band of frequencies within a frequency band, and one or more transmission characteristics of the transmissions of the licensed entity. The method further includes determining beam steering characteristics for wireless transmissions of the device within the frequency band using the spectrum usage data. The beam steering characteristics are determined using the transmission characteristics for the licensed entity and configured to reduce interference with the transmissions of the licensed entity within the frequency band caused by the wireless transmissions of the device. The method further includes conducting wireless transmissions over the frequency band using the beam steering characteristics.

Methods and systems for coexistence with licensed entities using beam steering

Systems, methods, and devices for conducting wireless communication are provided. One method includes identifying a location of the apparatus. The method further includes obtaining spectrum usage data from a database. The spectrum usage data indicates a licensed entity licensed within an area including the location of the apparatus to communicate across a first sub-band of frequencies within a frequency band. The frequency band includes a plurality of channels each having a fixed width. The method further include determining a first set of one or more of the plurality of channels containing the first sub-band of frequencies over which the licensed entity is licensed to communicate. The method further includes conducting wireless transmissions on a second set of one or more of the plurality of channels that do not contain the first sub-band of frequencies while disabling wireless transmissions on the first set of channels.

Methods and systems for coexistence with licensed entities using spectrum puncturing

A ticket-based shared secret authentication is provided. A client device receives a ticket, and performs an authentication with an access point using the ticket. The access point deploys a first public key-private key pair to an intermediate device. The intermediate device and access point share a master secret to protect information in the ticket. The access point receives an association request from the client device that includes a nonce public key and a signature using a second public key-private key pair provided by the intermediate device. The access point authenticates the client device using the nonce public key. The access point sends an association response to the client device based on the authentication and a signature using the first public key-private key pair. The access point initiates an association with the client device to permit the client device to connect to a network associated with the access point.

Enhanced secure provisioning for hotspots

A wireless device includes a first modem circuit, a second modem circuit, and one or more processor circuits. The first modem circuit supports wireless local area network (WLAN) communications. The second modem circuit supports long term evolution (LTE) and licensed assisted access (LAA) communications. The processor circuits determine free time intervals during which the second modem circuit is not engaged with a medium. The wireless device provides measurement reports to a base station. The first modem circuit enables the wireless device to perform the WLAN communications using the free time intervals without signaling to the base station.

Cellular-wireless local area network (WLAN) coexistence

An access point device includes at least one processor circuit and a network interface circuit. The processor circuit sets one or more fields of a frame to at least one value received from a wireless carrier. The value indicates that the wireless carrier supports at least one of a cellular-Wi-Fi link aggregation protocol or a cellular-wireless local area network (WLAN) link aggregation protocol. The network interface circuit connects to a network and sends the frame to a wireless device to advertise that the access point device is capable of supporting the at least one of the cellular-Wi-Fi link aggregation protocol or the cellular-WLAN link aggregation protocol.

Wireless network selection

Systems, methods, and devices for conducting wireless communication are provided. One method includes identifying a location of the apparatus. The method further includes obtaining spectrum usage data from a database. The spectrum usage data indicates a licensed entity licensed within an area including the location of the apparatus to communicate across a first sub-band of frequencies within a frequency band. The frequency band includes a plurality of channels each having a fixed width. The method further includes a modified transmission power using the spectrum usage data. The modified transmission power is configured to reduce interference with the licensed entity on the first sub-band. The method further includes conducting wireless transmissions on at least one of a first set of one or more of the plurality of channels containing the first sub-band or an adjacent channel that is adjacent to the first set of channels at the modified transmission power.

Methods and systems for coexistence with licensed entities using power modification

A wireless communication device (alternatively, device, WDEV, etc.) includes at least one processing circuitry configured to support communications with other WDEV(s) and to generate and process signals for such communications. In some examples, the device includes a communication interface and a processing circuitry, among other possible circuitries, components, elements, etc. to support communications with other WDEV(s) and to generate and process signals for such communications. A WDEV monitors for ongoing transmission(s) on a wireless communication medium before transmitting a signal to another WDEV via the wireless communication medium. The WDEV uses different threshold levels (and/or variable threshold level functions) based on whether a detected ongoing transmission is associated with a first or second wireless communication network to determine when to make a concurrent transmission. For example, different WDEVs are associated with different wireless communication networks, and the WDEV uses different considerations to determine when to make transmissions in different situations.
