Presented herein are techniques for a low-complexity process of generating an artificial frame that can be used for prediction. At least a first reference frame and a second reference frame of a video signal are obtained. A synthetic reference frame is generated from the first reference frame and the second reference frame. Reference blocks from each of the first reference frame and the second reference frame are combined to derive an interpolated block of the synthetic reference frame.

Low-complexity method for generating synthetic reference frames in video coding

A system, method, and computer-readable media for performing a fine-grained encrypted search of data stored in encrypted form in an encrypted search database. The system includes at least one processor and at least one memory having computer-readable instructions for performing the method. The method includes performing an encrypted search of the encrypted search database based on one or more search terms, presenting a result of the encrypted search on an interface, and performing a further search of an encrypted data storage based on a response to the result.

A first endpoint device has access to common video data including common video frames and encoded common video data having the common video frames encoded therein. The encoded common video data is downloaded to a second endpoint device. After, or during, the downloading of the encoded common video data, live video frames are played in a play order. The live video frames are encoded in the play order into encoded live video frames. To encode the live video frames, each live video frame is predicted based on a previous live video frame that has been encoded and a common video frame from the common video data that has been downloaded in the encoded common video data. The encoded live video frames include indications of the previous live video frame and the common video frame used to encode each encoded live video frame are transmitted to the second endpoint device.

An encoder obtains an uncompressed video bitstream that includes syntax elements that are to be coded using multi-symbol alphabets such that at least one syntax element of the syntax elements that are to be coded determines a magnitude token level that is at least partially represented by a head part. For each of the at least one syntax element, the encoder encodes the head part using multi-symbol alphabets to include a magnitude token level and end-of-block (EOB) information. The encoder transmits to a decoder an encoded bitstream that includes syntax elements coded with the multi-symbol alphabets.

In one embodiment, one or more portions of video content that were encoded by a video encoder are identified. The one or more portions of video content are to be analyzed for improving encoding performance of the video encoder. The one or more portions of the video content are stored. During an idle time period of the video encoder, the one or more portions of video content are analyzed in combination with a test set stored by the video encoder in order to modify one or more functions of an encoding process used by the video encoder. Based on the analysis, one or more modifications to the encoding process are determined that result in improved performance of the video encoder.

Distributed learning video encoder/decoder

In video coding, where differences between input picture values and picture prediction values are transformed in a block based transform, the differences are formed in a series of parallel steps. A first step conducted in parallel upon a first subset of pixels uses prediction values based wholly on previously processed blocks. This first subset can include anchor pixels which are not contiguous with any previously processed block. A second step conducted in parallel upon a second subset includes pixels which are predicted from pixels of the first subset.

In one embodiment, a device de-multiplexes a stream of multimedia data into first and second media streams. The device determines that a portion of the first media stream is missing for co-presentation with a corresponding portion of the second media stream due to a present latency condition. The device associates the corresponding portion of the second media stream with a previously received portion of the second media stream. The device generates media data for the first media stream for co-presentation with the corresponding portion of the second media stream in lieu of the missing portion of the first media stream, based on a previously received portion of the first media stream associated with the previously received portion of the second media stream. The device provides the generated media data and the corresponding portion of the second media stream for co-presentation by one or more user interfaces.

Latency mitigation through intelligent extrapolation in multimedia systems

Video coding and decoding techniques are provided in which entropy coding states are stored for regions of video frames of a sequence of video frames, upon completion of coding of those regions. Entropy coding initialization states for regions of a current video frame are derived based on entropy coding states of corresponding regions of a prior video frame in the sequence of video frames. This process may be performed at a video encoder and a video decoder, though some signaling may be sent from the encoder to the decoder to direct the decoder is certain operations.

A method comprises: obtaining, at an apparatus, first voice data from a first user device associated with a first speaker participant in a communication session; detecting voice data loss or degradation in the first voice data; determining whether prediction probability of correctly compensating for the voice data loss or degradation is greater than a predetermined probability threshold; if the prediction probability is greater than the predetermined probability threshold, first compensating for the voice data loss or degradation using historical voice data received by the apparatus prior to receiving of the first voice data, the first compensating producing first compensated voice data; if the prediction probability is not greater than the predetermined probability threshold, second compensating for the voice data loss or degradation by inserting noise to the first voice data to produce second compensated voice data; and outputting the first compensated voice data or the second compensated voice data.

Voice data compensation with machine learning

A computer-implemented method is provided for processing a video stream in the compressed domain for watermarking, scrambling and other applications. Syntax elements are generated for input video as part of a video compression process. The syntax elements are entropy coded with an arithmetic entropy encoding process to produce a compressed bitstream for the input video. Regions of frames and related syntax elements of the input video are identified as candidates for modification. Based on metadata associated with a particular user, the syntax elements, the regions, and entropy coding state of the arithmetic entropy encoding process, bytes of the input video are changed to generate a modifying bitstream that is unique to the particular user; and modifying the compressed bitstream using the modifying bitstream to produce a decodable bitstream for the input video.

Compressed domain data channel for watermarking, scrambling and steganography

Methods and systems for the transmission of a high quality background reference frame (HQRF). Such a reference frame is sent from a video encoder to a video decoder in a number of portions, or slices. In the context of this description, a slice of a frame is a set of blocks in the frame, where the slice is coded separately from other slices of the frame. The slices are sent at respective intervals, so that the decoder receives the high quality background reference frame over time, in a piecemeal fashion. The slices can be buffered at the decoder, and the buffer may be continuously updated and used for reference at any point.

Continuous generation of non-displayed reference frame in video encoding and decoding

A system and method packetizes data by fragmenting, with processing circuitry, a data structure into a plurality of data fragments, each data fragment being included in a separate packet, and inserting, with processing circuitry, an offset indicator within each of the packets, each offset indicator indicating an amount of fragment data encapsulated within preceding packets. A system and method decodes packetized data that includes the offset indicator.
