The invention relates to an indane compound according to Formula (I), or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, wherein R, R, R, R, R, R, L, n and p are as defined herein. The compounds are useful for treating antibacterial infection either as stand-alone antibiotics, or in combination with further antibiotics.

The invention relates to a compound which is an indane derivative according to Formula (I), or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, [FORMULA (I)] wherein R, R, R, n, R, p, q, L, X and m are as defined herein. The compounds are useful in the treatment of antibacterial infection either as stand alone antibiotics, or in combination with further antibiotics. The compounds can also be used in vitro, for example in cleaning compositions.

More specifically the present invention pertains to certain 3,3-disubstituted-(8-aza-bicyclo[3.2.1]oct-8-yl)-[5-(1H-pyrazol-4-yl)-thiophen-3-yl]-methanone, 3,3-disubstituted-(6-aza-bicyclo[3.1.1]hept-6-yl)-[5-(1H-pyrazol-4-yl)-thiophen-3-yl]-methanone, and 4,4-disubstituted piperidin-1-yl)-[5-(1H-pyrazol-4-yl)-thiophen-3-yl]-methanone compounds of the following formula that, inter alia, inhibit 11&#x3b2;-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase type 1 (11&#x3b2;-HSD1). For example, the invention relates in part to tricyclic sulfonamide compounds represented by Formula I: or pharmaceutically acceptable salts or stereoisomers thereof, wherein A, B, D, R, R, Y, X and n are as defined herein.
