Disclosed is a coating for protecting a component against high temperatures and aggressive media, which coating has at least one subregion whose main constituent is chromium. The layer additionally comprises aluminum, the chromium content at least in the subregion in which chromium is the main constituent being greater than 30% by weight and the aluminum content being greater than or equal to 5% by weight. The invention further provides a process for producing such a coating, comprising chromizing the surface to be coated and subsequently alitizing the chromium-rich layer produced during chromizing.

An apparatus for surface blasting gas turbine blades in the area of their blade roots includes a vibrator with an oscillating surface oriented so that the oscillating surface extends essentially in the horizontal direction. A processing chamber for receiving the blade root adjoins the oscillating surface. A process for coating hollow bodies, in which a powder mixture including a metal donor powder, an inert filler powder and an activator powder including a metal halide is provided, the powder mixture is brought into contact with an inner surface, which is to be coated, of the hollow body and is heated, in which process, in order to increase the internal layer thicknesses, the inert filler powder is provided with a mean particle size which is approximately the same as the mean particle size of the metal donor powder.
