An optical fiber connector module for coupling to a ferrule terminated to at least one fiber in a ribbon cable is provided. The optical fiber connector module may include a first connector body member for coupling to the ferrule, the first connector body member including at least one alignment component coupling section, at least one biasing component coupling section, and a first through-channel for the ribbon cable. The optical fiber connector module may include a second connector body member coupled to the first connector body member, the second connector body member including at least one biasing component coupling section, a second through-channel for the ribbon cable, and an open side spanning the length of the second connector body member providing access to the second through-channel for the ribbon cable.

Retrofit optical fiber connector module

An optical fiber cable assembly has a first end portion of each of a plurality of optical fibers positioned in a generally parallel first array and a second end portion of each of the plurality of optical fibers is positioned in a generally parallel second array. Optical fibers along a portion of the length spaced from the first and second end portions are not retained in a parallel array. A coating is applied to at least a section of each optical fiber. A generally planar carrier of an optical assembly has a first guide member and a second guide member with a first cable assembly disposed within the first guide member and a second cable assembly disposed within the second guide member. Connectors of the cable assemblies are spaced from the carrier. A securement structure retains the cable assemblies within the guide members.

Optical fiber cable assembly and carrier

An optical housing assembly includes a housing member having a first face and a second face. The first face has a plurality of first cavities and the second face has a plurality of second cavities. Each of the first cavities is aligned with one of the second cavities and each of the first cavities and each of the second cavities has a housing locking member. Each of a plurality of first adapter inserts have a first mounting section inserted into one of the first cavities, a first receptacle configured to receive a first optical fiber connector therein, and a first connector latching member. Each of a plurality of second adapter inserts has a second mounting section inserted into one of the second cavities, a second receptacle, and a second connector latching member.

Optical fiber assembly

An optical fiber interconnect assembly includes a first housing component with deflectable locking arms having a locking section and an engagement section. The locking arms are movable between a first locked position and a second unlocked position. A second housing component is operatively slidable relative to the first housing component between a locking position and an unlocking position. An engagement section moves the locking arm to its second unlocked position upon movement of the second housing component to its second unlocking position. A ferrule is movably mounted between the first housing component and the second housing component. At least one biasing member biases the ferrule for movement.

Optical fiber interconnect assembly

The connector system provides two identical hermaphroditic housings, which accomplish a reliable connection of standard optical fiber connectors without the use of an adaptor. The connector system includes a first housing mounted to a first printed wiring board and a second housing mounted to a second printed wiring board. Each housing supports an optical fiber connector therein. Each housing includes an inner member and an outer member. Springs are provided between the inner and outer members to provide biasing of the housings in the mating direction of the optical connectors.

Hermaphroditic fibre optical connector system

An adapter assembly comprises a cable ferrule that terminates environmental and strength members of a high count fiber optic cable while allowing a plurality of optical fibers to pass therethrough. A flange on the cable ferrule mates with a corresponding groove of a breakout body. A breakout body cover is provided to enclose an open longitudinal channel of the breakout body. Flexible jacketing may be coupled to an end of the breakout body with a traversing plurality of optic fiber encased in the flexible jacketing. In another aspect of the present invention, a modular connector assembly is provided that may be configured in both a pulling configuration (for installation of the cable assembly) and a connector configuration (for termination of the optical fibers). In this manner, relatively inflexible high count fiber optic cables may be transitioned into more flexible configurations for subsequent termination in a relatively inexpensive manner.

Breakout and connector assemblies for use with high count fiber optic cables

A method of forming a round multi-fiber cable assembly is provided which includes the following steps: providing a round multi-fiber cable, a heat shrinkable tube, a tubing, a boot, a crimp tubing, and a multi-fiber connector; threading the heat shrinkable tube onto the multi-fiber cable; stripping off inner and outer jackets of the multi-fiber cable to pre-determined lengths; ribbonizing the fibers of the multi-fiber cable, if necessary; preparing the tubing as required; threading the fibers and strength members of the multi-fiber cable through the tubing; placing the boot and the crimp tubing on the tubing, assembling the multi-fiber connector to the ribbon; crimping the crimp tubing around the tubing, the strength members and the multi-fiber connector; heat shrinking the heat-shrinkable tubing to the round multi-fiber cable and the tubing; and sliding the boot to attach it to the multi-fiber connector to provide a round multi-fiber cable assembly.
