A first electronic device uses a first wireless link to connect wirelessly to an audio source device, and a second wireless link to connect to a second electronic device. In some cases, the first electronic device and the second electronic device can be worn by, or mounted to, a user. Upon receiving audio from the audio source device, the first electronic device extracts stereo channels from the received audio, and transmits at least one of the channels to the second electronic device. In some embodiments, an antenna of the first electronic device and an antenna of the second electronic device create a coaxial antenna pair. Alternately or additionally, each antenna, when worn by or mounted to a user, propagates an electric field in a direction generally normal to the user's head. In turn, this generates a creeping wave that travels along a surface, such as the surface of the user's head.

In one example, a method is performed on an integrated circuit, for generating a composite envelope reference voltage for a plurality of transmit signals. The method includes, generating a composite baseband signal from a plurality of baseband signals, wherein the plurality of baseband signals represent a corresponding plurality of different transmit signals. The method also includes calculating a composite envelope signal for the composite baseband signal, and generating a composite envelope reference voltage from the composite envelope signal for use in powering a single power amplifier as the power amplifier transmits the plurality of different transmit signals.

An adaptive power amplifier that may be used in a wireless communication device is configured to adjust its load line or output impedance, the number of active amplifier cells in each amplification stage, the bias of the active amplifiers, and the supply voltage input capacitive load in accordance with a supply voltage modulation type provided to the power amplifier. The supply voltage modulation types include ET, APT, DC-DC, dual, multi-state or fixed voltage supply voltages. A supply voltage converter, signaled by a baseband processor, generates the selected type of supply voltage modulation for the adaptive power amplifier. The baseband processor may also provide a control interface signal to a controller within the adaptive power amplifier. The controller, based on the received control interface signal provides a configuration signal that configures the impedance, the number of active amplifier cells, the bias of the active amplifier cells, and the supply voltage capacitive load to optimize the adaptive power amplifier based on the supply voltage modulation type.

The method may include determining if the transmit power in the first frequency band is above a threshold power. The method may include reducing maximum transmit power in the second frequency band by an amount proportional to transmit power in the first frequency band and transmit signal bandwidth in the second frequency band in only the portion of the second frequency band where a resultant frequency component can cause desensitization.

An envelope generatoror detector is operable to determine an envelope signal () from the data signal. A tracking power supply or other power supply control circuit () is operable to control a supply voltage of the power amplifier with the envelope signal. An allocation manager () is operable to determine a resource block allocation within a channel for the data signal. A delay circuit () is operable to insert a delay () between the envelope signal and the data signal as a function of the resource block allocation within the channel, thereby intentionally causing unbalanced leakage about the resource block allocation. Increased leakage on one side of the allocation results in improved leakage on the other side.

Method and apparatus for improving efficiency and distortion leakage in a wireless power amplifier

A method and apparatus mitigates spurious transmissions. An offset local oscillator signal is generated that is at a frequency that is offset from a nominal transmit channel carrier frequency by a spurious mitigation offset. An information signal is generated that comprises a series of modulation symbols and has a transmission bandwidth at baseband. A configured offset information signal is generated from the information signal, wherein the spectrum of the configured offset information signal is offset from DC by a channel configuration offset, and is further offset by a negative of the spurious mitigation offset. The offset local oscillator signal and the configured offset information signal are combined using a mixing technique. The spurious mitigation offset is zero when a spurious condition does not exist and is non-zero when the spurious condition does exist.
