Methods and systems are provided for controlling a defrost unit for a vehicle. A prediction is performed as to whether condensation has formed against a surface of the vehicle. The defrost unit is automatically activated when it is predicted that the condensation has formed against the surface. Another prediction is made as to whether condensation has dissipated from the surface while the defrost unit is operating. The defrost unit is automatically deactivated when it is predicted that the condensation has dissipated.

Methods and systems for controlling vehicle defrost units

An inside rearview mirror bracket for a windscreen includes a pad portion configured to attach to an interior of the windscreen. A bridge portion is formed as a single piece with the pad portion, and a tunnel is defined by the bridge portion and the pad portion. The mirror bracket includes a mirror receptacle formed as a single piece with the bridge portion opposite the tunnel. The mirror receptacle is configured to receive a rearview mirror. A sensor member may be configured to substantially fill the tunnel, such that the sensor member is disposed intermediate the bridge portion and the windscreen.

A seal molding configured for minimizing a first perceivable gap having a first width between a vitreous element and a body panel of a vehicle includes a first portion configured for abutting the vitreous element and a second portion configured for abutting the body panel and including an elongated flexible segment and a protrusion projecting away from the segment. The second portion is configured for flexing toward the first portion to define an alternative gap having a second width that is smaller than the first width to thereby minimize the first perceivable gap between the vitreous element and the body panel. A vehicle includes a body panel, a vitreous element having an outer surface and spaced apart from the body panel to define the first perceivable gap, and the seal molding disposed between and in contact with the vitreous element and the body panel.

According to various exemplary embodiments, an apparatus is provided for mounting a rearview display and one or more electronic components in a vehicle. An example of the apparatus comprises an inside rearview assembly for mounting an electronic component near a windshield of a vehicle including a mirror and an adjustable support connected to the mirror. The rearview assembly also includes a bracket configured to mount on the windshield, including an attaching structure configured to attach the bracket to the windshield and a support frame coupled to the attaching structure. The support frame has a portion set off from the windshield to accommodate the electronic component between the windshield and the set off portion. The support frame is connected to the adjustable support.
