A system receives a request to store a document in a database, receives a user security token, analyzes the document to determine an adjudicated security level for the document, compares the user security token to the adjudicated security level, stores the document when the user security token is equal to the adjudicated security level, when the user security token is not equal to the adjudicated security level, queries the user as to whether the document should be stored with the adjudicated security level, receives a response to the query from the user, stores the document when the user agrees to store the document with the adjudicated security level, and when the user does not agree to store the document with the adjudicated security level, transmits a message to a security officer and quarantine the document.

According to one embodiment, a secure e-mail messaging system includes an e-mail relay server coupled to a secure client configured on a secure domain and an external client configured on an external domain. The e-mail relay server has a memory for storage of an actual address of the secure client, a first certificate associated with the actual address, an alias address associated with the actual address, and a second certificate associated with the alias address. The e-mail relay server receives an e-mail message that includes the alias address from the external client and decrypts the e-mail message according to the second certificate. The e-mail messaging server then replaces the alias address with the actual address to form a modified e-mail message, encrypts the modified e-mail message according to the first certificate, and transmits the modified e-mail message to the secure client.

In accordance with the teachings of the present invention, a system and method for dynamic, multi-attribute authentication are provided. In a particular embodiment, a method for authentication includes receiving, at an authentication web server, an authentication request comprising a workstation message and a user message, wherein the workstation message comprises a workstation object and a workstation signature, the workstation object comprises a workstation certificate associated with a workstation, the user message comprises a user object and a user signature, and the user object comprises a copy of the workstation message and a user certificate associated with a user of the workstation. The method further includes verifying the workstation signature and user signature, validating the workstation certificate and the user certificate, retrieving one or more caveats associated with the workstation and one or more caveats associated with the user, and determining one or more caveats associated with both the workstation and the user.
