This disclosure relates to inline testing of RFID inlays. A test system includes a test interface without moving parts and a marking device. The test interface an array of antennas, a radio frequency identification (RFID) reader to interrogate RFID inlays to be tested; and a circuit configured to selectively connect the RFID reader to the antenna in the array of antenna. The test interface performs a primary scan of all of the RFID inlays to be tested and, when not all of the RFID inlays respond, a secondary scan to determine which of the RFID inlays failed to respond. The marking devices mark any of the identified RFID inlays that failed to respond.

Inline testing of RFID inlays

A dual security tag including an RFID component and an electronic article surveillance (EAS) component, respectively disposed on opposite sides of a PET carrier substrate, is provided. The RFID component may include one or more ultra-high frequency antennae, such as a near field loop antenna and a far field dipole antenna, and an integrated circuit (IC) chip. The EAS component may be provided as an RF device, an acoustic-magnetic (AM) device, a low power Bluetooth (BLE) device, or other suitable device. The security tag may also include a facesheet affixed to the RFID component, a release liner layer affixed to the EAS device, and one or more intermediary films or protective layers. A method for manufacturing a dual security tag is also described.

Anti-theft and tracking tag and methods of manufacturing same

A RFID label is shown and described herein. The RFID label having a combined structure with an RFID component layer and an inductive component layer separated by and placed on opposite sides of a dielectric substrate. The RFID component layer including an antenna segment with an integrated circuit located along the antenna segment. A first and second capacitor assembly couples the RFID component layer to the inductive component layer. The combined structure is adhered to a spacer layer. The antenna segment radiates a plane wave when the combined structure is coupled to a ground plane.

A dual hard tag assembly comprises radio frequency identification and electronic article surveillance. The dual hard tag is provides a single component able to both track retail merchandise generally and prevent theft by triggering an alarm. The RFID and EAS systems are not coplanar. The dual hard tag system is small and light weight, and may be reprogrammed and reused for the tracking and anti-theft of multiple items.

The present invention provides for an RFID transponder, suitable for use in a wristband, which has a non-uniform loop that provides a staple RF environment between the wrist and the transponder; a tuning capacitor for minimizing the overall transponder link; a single transmission line for fine tunings; and an asymmetric location of the RFID IC and capacitor for accommodating needs for specified 'keep out' areas for packaging.

An identification system for machinery or equipment, such as an aircraft engine, includes a name plate, a mounting bracket for mounting the name plate, a housing, and an RFID tag positioned within the housing between the name plate and the mounting bracket. The RFID tag includes an integrated circuit and an antenna such as a patch antenna.

A Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) device can comprise a dielectric separator and a RFID antenna with a RFID chip region. The antenna can have a main section and at least two tuning stubs that fold back from areas on the main section of the RFID antenna which are away from the RFID chip connection region back towards the RFID chip antenna region. The tuning stubs can be spaced away from the main section.

An RFID tag system includes a housing that includes an enclosed sidewall and forms a recess with a housing base surface, where the housing is configured and arranged to be mounted to a mounting surface. An RFID tag is located within the housing, and the RFID tag comprises an integrated circuit, an antenna and a metal backplane, where the housing base surface separates the antenna and the metal backplane. A metal surface is secured to a top surface of the sidewall to cover the recess, where the metal surface and a transmission path from the integrated circuit to the antenna are electromagnetically coupled and tuned to operate across a wide band frequency range. The metal surface may include a name plate of a data plate for a gas turbine engine, or a component thereof.

A radio frequency identification (RIFD) inlay includes an electrical connection between a chip and an antenna. The electrical connection includes conductive interposer leads and a capacitive connection. The capacitive connection may involve putting the antenna and the interposer leads into close proximity, with dielectric pads therebetween, to allow capacitive coupling between the antenna and the interposer leads. The dielectric pads may include a non-conductive adhesive and a high dielectric material, such as a titanium oxide. The connections provide a convenient, fast, and effective way to operatively couple antennas and interposers. The RFID inlay may be part of an RFID label or RFID tag.

RFID device and method of forming

Systems and methods are disclosed herein to provide RFID device test techniques. For example, in accordance with an embodiment of the present invention, a radio frequency identification (RFID) device test system includes an RFID device tester adapted to test RFID devices that are disposed in a closely spaced configuration. The RFID device tester applies a variable threshold, to each of the RFID devices tested, based on characteristics of at least one of the RFID devices neighboring the RFID device being tested.

A radio frequency identification (RFID) inlay includes an electrical connection between a chip and an antenna. A radio frequency identification (RIFD) inlay includes an interposer that has a chip, and an antenna on an antenna substrate. The antenna substrate has a recess or hole, and the chip is at least partially in the recess or hole. By placing the chip or the interposer face down and at least partially in a recess or hole, thickness of the inlay may be reduced.

Methods and apparatus for detecting objects are disclosed. In one embodiment of the invention, a person entering a secured or &ldquo;Safe Zone&trade;&rdquo; is illuminated with low-power polarized radio waves. Differently polarized waves which are reflected back from the person are collected and measured. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, concealed weapons are detected by calculating the difference of a pair of differences between levels of different polarized reflected energy in the time domain, and by using signal processing methods and apparatus to improve the reliability of the detection process. Alternative embodiments of the invention may be used to detect a wide variety of objects other than concealed firearms. The invention may be used for inventory control or to thwart shoplifting.

Combined signals from the right-handed subarrays are output via low noise amplifiers to a first electromagnetic lens while the outputs of the left-handed circularly polarized subarrays are sent via low noise amplifiers to a second steering electromagnetic lens. A satellite selection matrix output block allows a user to tap into signals from right-handed circularly polarized satellites, left-handed circularly polarized satellites, and linearly polarized satellites. A plurality of satellites (e.g. right-handed satellite &ldquo;A&rdquo; and linearly polarized satellite &ldquo;B&rdquo;) may be accessed simultaneously thus allowing the user to utilize both signals at the same time.
