A control unit is provided for a vehicle having an internal combustion engine with a shaft, which can be coupled to an electric machine or decoupled from the electric machine. The control unit is designed to couple the electric machine to the internal combustion engine during an engine stop of the internal combustion engine. The control unit causes the electric machine to guide the shaft of the internal combustion engine. The control unit determines that a speed of the guided shaft is equal to or less than a speed threshold value and, in response thereto, decouples the electric machine from the internal combustion engine, such that the internal combustion engine stops without being guided by the electric machine.

In connection with a user interface for a motor vehicle with a hybrid drive, a driver is able to select whether the hybrid drive is operated in an operating mode which consumes charge, or in an operating mode which retains charge. The user interface is configured to display the charge state of the energy store on a display, and to receive or calculate a charge state variable which is characteristic of the charge state. The charge state variable may be displayed with a first range of values in a first display area during operation of the hybrid drive in the charge-consuming operating mode. The charge state variable may be displayed with a second range of values, which is a subset of the first range of values, in a second display area during operation of the hybrid drive in the charge-retaining operating mode. The second display area is larger than a subrange of the first display area in which the second range of values is displayed.

A method is provided for increasing the operating range of a vehicle which is driven by an electric motor. The method determines that a state of charge reserve of an energy store of the vehicle should be used for operating the electric motor. The state of charge reserve lies outside a state of charge range which is intended for the energy store. In response to this, the method uses electrical energy from the state of charge reserve of the energy store in order to operate the electric motor of the vehicle.

Limp-home mode for a vehicle with an electric drive

A system and a method for reducing a rotational imbalance of a drive train of a hybrid vehicle are provided. The drive train includes an internal-combustion engine, an electric machine, and a crankshaft. A reduction or nullification of the rotational imbalance takes place by actuating the electric machine. The actuation is implemented as an adaptive feed forward control, which provides an actuation signal for the electric machine. The actuation signal represents a desired torque to be generated by the electric machine, so that the electric machine outputs a torque that is at least approximately inverse with respect to the rotational imbalance to the crankshaft for the superimposition of the torque generated by the internal-combustion engine.

Device and method for reducing rotational imbalances of a drive train for a hybrid vehicle

A method for damping mechanical vibrations is provided, in particular torsion vibrations, in a vehicle that has a drive train comprising a combustion engine and an electrical drive motor, wherein a signal describing the current vibration behavior of at least one vehicle component is subjected to a vibration analysis, and at at least one interference frequency contained in the signal, a compensation torque counteracting said interference frequency is generated by the electric drive motor.

A method operates a hybrid drive operable selectively in a first operating mode powered by only an internal combustion engine or in a second operating mode powered by only an electric motor. Prior to starting a trip, for which a route that leads from a start to a destination is determined, the entire route to be traveled is segmented, according to pre-defined logic, into a plurality of route sections. These route sections are used to select certain route sections that are ever taken into consideration, based on certain route section criteria, for driving in the second mode. From, the selected certain route sections, those are used to identify and to drive on the route in the second mode in which route travel in the second mode yields a total maximum fuel economy advantage compared to driving the route in the first or any other mode.

A method for approximately determining the torque actually transmitted by a clutch of a drive train of a vehicle, includes the steps of: setting a closed state of the clutch and transmitting a torque by way of the drive train, providing a state space model showing the drive train, particularly a Kalman filter, determining a torque which can theoretically be transmitted or is transmitted by the clutch in the closed state, and approximately determining the torque actually transmitted by the clutch, by adding the theoretically transmittable or transmitted torque and a disturbance torque determined by calculation, wherein the disturbance torque is determined on the basis of the state space model and actual rotational speeds of individual drive train components and/or of actual torques transmitted by individual drive train components.

A system for operating an hybrid vehicle is described. The system includes an hybrid operating strategy module for controlling hybrid operating functions of the vehicle based on input data, a navigation system providing vehicle routing input data to the hybrid operating strategy module, and a traffic information system providing traffic information input data to the hybrid operating strategy module. The hybrid operating strategy module determines electric portions of the vehicle route for charging batteries of the vehicle and inner portions of the vehicle route for prioritizing electric driving.

Utilization of navigation information for intelligent hybrid operating strategy

A method is provided for extending the useful life of a rechargeable energy storage unit for use in a motor vehicle, such as, in particular, a double layer capacitor, a lithium ion storage unit, a lithium ion capacitor or a NiMH storage unit, which exhibits a plurality of storage cells. In order to extend the useful life of the energy storage unit, it is proposed that the temperature and/or storage capacity of each of the storage cells be measured. If the temperature of a storage cell exceeds a reference value for the temperature of the storage cell on the storage cell is partially discharged, and, in this way, its voltage is reduced.

A method and controller are provided for controlling a power train of a vehicle having a number of modes of operation. A first controller is provided for controlling of a first function of the vehicle. At least one second controller is provided for controlling of a second function of the vehicle. The first controller and the at least one second controller are combined in a joint controller having a state observer and a number of controlling entities. The joint controller is operated by a set of formal controlling parameters assigned to the controlling entities. Actual parameters of the set of formal controlling parameters are switched according to a current mode of the number of modes of operation.

A multi-voltage vehicle electrical system for a motor vehicle is provided, including at least one multi-voltage generator, a first energy store, whose energy may be fed into a first low-voltage vehicle electrical system branch having low-voltage consumers, and a second energy store, whose energy may be fed into a second high-voltage vehicle electrical system branch having high-voltage consumers, as well as at least one controllable switching device, using which the energy generated by the multi-voltage generator may be distributed to the first and the second vehicle electrical system branches, the first and the second energy stores being connected in series to one another and the first vehicle electrical system branch being connected to a node between the first and the second energy store and to a reference potential of the first energy store.

Multi-voltage vehicle electrical supply system for a motor vehicle and method for operating the same

An energy storage system for a motor vehicle is provided, including an electric machine, which can be operated at least as a generator, for generating a generator current; a vehicle electrical system battery, which is connected to the electric machine in parallel; a capacitor unit, which is connected to the electric machine in parallel; and a controller for controlling the electric machine. The controller is configured such that if the vehicle is in the boost or braking operating mode, the battery of the vehicle electrical system is charged with a maximum battery charging current, whereas in all other cases the battery of the vehicle electrical system is charged by a battery charging current that is adjusted as a function of the charge state of the battery of the vehicle electrical system. Therefore, in order to adjust the battery charging current as a function of the charge state of the battery of the vehicle electrical system, three different charge states are considered.
