The invention relates to a composition of a blend of an ethylene/propylene random copolymer and a low to very low density ethylene/C to C -&agr;-olefin random copolymer and its use as an impact modifier for polyolefin compositions. The invention further relates to polyolefin compositions, particularly polypropylene compositions, comprising said impact modifier composition.

Impact modifier for thermoplastic polyolefins

A thermoplastic composition which may be unvulcanized or vulcanized is provided which comprises a polymer blend of an elastomeric thermoplastic engineering resin and a halogen-containing copolymer of a C to C isomonoolefin and a para-alkylstyrene. A process for preparing a dynamically vulcanized composition is also provided.

Thermoplastic blend containing engineering resin

The invention relates to impact modifiers for polyamide compositions which improve the impact strength of the polyamides without adversely affecting the flexural modulus of the composition. The impact modifiers comprise blends of halogenated copolymers of a C,to C,isomonoolefin and an alkyl/styrene with a polyolefin.

Impact modification of polyamides

This invention relates to thermoplastic olefin compositions of a low modulus which are suitable for fabrication into flexible skins and liners for applications which heretofore have been serviced by skins and liners produced essentially only from plasticized polyvinyl chloride resin compositions. TPO compositions of this invention comprise an impact modified polypropylene resin and a &ldquo;plastomer&rdquo; resin intimately blended in proportions with respect of one to another to provide a blend composition having a 1% secant modulus of less than 40,000 psi, and preferably less than 30,000 psi. Optionally, and preferably, the blend also comprises as a discrete component apart from the impact modified polypropylene an olefin copolymer elastomer or a cross-linked elastomer concentrate. Optionally the blend may contain other polyolefin components to alter its stiffness in desirable ways. In addition to the olefin based polymer components, the blend may further comprise, and preferably does comprise, a coupling agent and activator compound which, during melt compounding of the blend components causes the plastomer to extend to its dimer form and, when a discrete OCE component is present to couple the plastomer thereto.

Low modulus thermoplastic olefin compositions

The invention relates to impact modifiers for polyamide compositions which improve the impact strength of the polyamides without adversely affecting the flexural modules of the composition. The impact modifiers comprise blends of general purpose rubbers and a halogenated copolymer of a C.sub.4 to C.sub.7 isomonoolefin and an alkylstyrene. In addition, the invention is drawn to a polyamide composition containing such impact modifiers.
