A cargo hauling attachment includes a frame and a bed hingedly secured to the frame. The frame is rigidly attached to the front of a tractor and the bed is pivotable relative to the frame by a linear actuator. A pair of freely rotating wheels is provided beneath the frame to support the attachment and to improve maneuverability of the attachment. A lift gate having multiple dual motion hinge assemblies may be provided in certain embodiments.

Provided are a method, system, and article of manufacture for managing writes received to data units that are being transferred to a secondary storage as part of a mirror relationship. Synchronization information indicates data units to transfer from a primary storage to a secondary storage, wherein the synchronization information data is updated to indicate the transfer of one of the data units from the primary storage to the secondary storage. A storage controller receives a write request having an update to a target data unit comprising one of the data units indicated in the synchronization information that has not been transferred from the primary storage to the secondary storage. The write request is allowed to apply the update to the target data unit in response to transferring the data in the target data unit to a network adapter of the storage controller and before the data in the target data unit is transferred to the secondary storage.

Determining when to apply writes received to data units being transferred to a secondary storage

A mechanism is provided for managing operations in a data storage system. A first storage controller monitors operation state information associated with a plurality of operation states stored in a data structure. The first storage controller detects a change in the operation state information. The change in the operation state information is in response to a managing entity updating the operation state information to a first operation state in the plurality of operation states in the data structure. Responsive to detecting the change in the operation state information, the first storage controller identifies a reference to a first operation associated with the first operation state updated by the managing entity. The first operation is one operation in a plurality of operations. The first storage controller performs the first operation associated with the first operation state.

Provided are a method, system, and article of manufacture for using different algorithms to destage different types of data from cache. A first destaging algorithm is used to destage a first type of data to a storage for a first duration. A second destaging algorithm is used to destage a second type of data to the storage for a second duration.

Provided are a method, system, and program for destaging a track from cache to a storage device. The destaged track is retained in the cache. Verification is made of whether the storage device successfully completed writing data. Provided are a method, system, and article of manufacture for managing write requests to data sets in a primary volume subject to being copied to a secondary volume. Information indicating data sets to copy from a primary storage to a secondary storage is generated. A write request is received to write data to a target data set indicated in the information to copy from the primary storage to the secondary storage. A determination is made as to whether the write request is part of a sequential write access. The target data set and sequential data sets following the target data set are copied from the primary storage to the secondary storage. The write request to write the data to the primary storage is executed in response to receiving acknowledgment that the target data set was copied to the secondary storage.

Provided are a method, system, and program for forming a consistency group of data. Information is provided on a consistency group relationship indicating a plurality of slave controllers and, for each indicated slave controller, a slave storage unit managed by the slave controller. A command is transmitted to each slave controller in the consistency group relationship to cause each slave controller to transmit data in the slave storage unit to a remote storage in a manner that forms the consistency group. A determination is made as to whether all the slave controllers successfully transmitted the data in the slave storage units that is part of the consistency group to the remote storage.

Provided are a method, system, and article of manufacture for adjusting parameters used to prefetch data from storage into cache. Data units are added from a storage to a cache, wherein requested data from the storage is returned from the cache. A degree of prefetch is processed indicating a number of data units to prefetch into the cache. A trigger distance is processed indicating a prefetched trigger data unit in the cache. The number of data units indicated by the degree of prefetch is prefetched in response to processing the trigger data unit. The degree of prefetch and the trigger distance are adjusted based on a rate at which data units are accessed from the cache.

Adjusting parameters used to prefetch data from storage into cache

An apparatus, system, and method are disclosed for detecting mismatches in a mirror volume. A receive module receives a start indicator from a primary storage system. The start indicator includes a starting location of a first block to be modified on a track in a secondary storage system. The first block corresponds to an identically located first block of a modified record in the primary storage system. The tracks the first blocks on the primary and secondary storage systems each comprise irregular count key data ('CKD') tracks. A compare module compares the first block location indicated by the start indicator with block locations listed in track metadata. The track metadata describes user records on the irregular CKD tracks of the secondary storage system. An alert module generates an alert in response to the first block not aligning with a beginning block of a record on the secondary storage system.

Disclosed is a method, system, and program for managing metadata in cache. A first policy is used to determine when to remove data from a primary cache, and a second policy is used to determine when to remove data from a metadata cache.

Method, system, and program for improved throughput in remote mirroring systems

Method, apparatus and program product are provided for rebuilding faulty metadata in a storage controller coupled to a host device. Faulty metadata may include metadata which no longer matches the associated customer data tracks stored on a DASD or other storage device. When an error in metadata is describing a first customer track is detected, a range of other customer tracks in which the error is also likely to have occurred is identified. The metadata tracks associated with the first customer track and the other customer tracks are selected to be invalidated. A command is received through a host interface, and the specified metadata tracks are invalidated while the controller remains on-line with the host and continues to process other host I/O operations. Subsequently, the invalidated metadata tracks are rebuilt. The disclosed method, apparatus and program product invalidate the faulty metadata with reduced impact on normal host/controller I/O operations.
