Methods of managing a fleet of devices are provided, as are methods for configuring a standby device for a job in a workflow environment, and methods for performing a job in a workflow environment. Device information is analyzed, such as information pertaining to verification systems. Device instructions are sent to various locations on a device network in response to a deviation from a parameter value having been detected. The deviation from the parameter value may correspond to printed media and/or indicia produced by one or more devices. A workflow device and a standby device are provided, and the workflow device sends configuration data to the standby device. The standby device installs configuration data and is introduced into the workflow environment.

Managing a fleet of devices

A printer-verifier is provided for printing and verifying a printed indicium. Printer-verifier includes imaging module for capturing image of printed indicium on print media, memory communicatively coupled to imaging module and configured to store print quality verification program, and processor communicatively coupled to memory. Processor is configured by print quality verification program to evaluate print quality of printed indicium, determine if print quality meets print quality standard, reject printed indicium on print media as rejected printed media when print quality does not meet print quality standard, and one of output location-specific feedback about rejected printed media or send a command signal to cutting device to destroy rejected printed media. Location-specific feedback is in same language as language associated with printer-verifier. A printer and methods for verifying the printed indicium are also provided.

Managing a fleet of workflow devices and standby devices in a device network

Provided herein is system and method for enhancing throughput of a thermal printer cutter. The system operates in a first printing mode in an instance in which a designated safe zone is detected. A second print media portion is traversed in downstream direction for printing after printing of a first print media until a designated safe zone is detected under a print head. The printing is suspended at a first point on the second print media portion. A first movement of the print media is caused in one of the downstream or upstream direction until a first cut point of the first print media portion is detected under cutter blade for cutting operation. A second movement of the print media is caused in one of the downstream or upstream direction until a third point is detected under print head. The printing resumes from the first point on the second print media portion.

Method and system for enhancing throughput of thermal printer cutter

Printers and other machines providing tangible outputs are provided. In one implementation, a printer comprises a housing having a fixed structure and a movable cover configured to be movable with respect to the fixed structure. The printer also includes a printing mechanism that is disposed inside the housing and is configured to print an image on a medium. The movable cover is movably attached to the fixed structure via a first pivoting mechanism that defines a first pivoting axis. The movable cover is configured to be pivoted about the first pivoting axis of the first pivoting mechanism. Also, the movable cover comprises a plurality of linked slats, each pair of adjacent linked slats being linked together by a second pivoting mechanism. Each second pivoting mechanism includes characteristics enabling a user to detach the adjacent linked slats from each other.

Segmented enclosure

A printer is provided. The printer has a printer body enclosing an interior, a screen, a camera, and a processor communicatively coupled to the camera. The screen overlies an exterior of at least a portion of the printer body. The camera is disposed within the interior and is configured to capture an image hereof. The processor is configured, by an analytical diagnostic software program, to display the captured image on the screen, thereby simulating a see-through view into the interior. Methods are also provided for identifying a source of a problem in the printer.

Printers and methods for identifying a source of a problem therein

The present invention embraces methods to automatically adjust print locations on a label on center-tracked printers. The methods are applicable for the initial out of the box setup and when changing media/print scripts after deployment of the printer. A novelty of the present invention is that no additional hardware may be required and the method is implemented with a relatively simple software algorithm. By utilizing a simple software algorithm and an analysis of the objects (barcode, text, shape, graphics, etc.) in the rendered image buffer, the centered position for the label can be calculated. The calculation of the centered position for the label is based on the print head width and the image width. An additional benefit with this invention is that the risk of printing outside the physical label (due to mechanical or label media roll variations) is minimized, since the image is printed centered.

Auto-adjusted print location on center-tracked printers

Systems and methods for comparing different models of printers are provided. According to one embodiment, a system for comparing printers includes at least one web portal configured to receive a user's selection of two models of printers to be compared. The system further includes a printer analysis server configured to receive the user's selection via a first network. A plurality of sample printers is connected to the printer analysis server via a second network. The printer analysis server is configured to establish communication with two sample printers of the plurality of sample printers, the two sample printers corresponding to the two selected printer models. The printer analysis server is further configured to provide a data stream of print commands to the two sample printers and analyze print output results from the two sample printers, wherein the print output results may then be provided to the user.
