In one aspect, wireless audio devices, such as wireless earbuds, may provide link quality information and timestamps to a source device, which may use such information to select which antenna to use for a subsequent transmission.

According to various aspects, techniques to enable implicit and/or explicit transmit (Tx) beamforming in a wireless personal area network are provided. In particular, the implicit transmit beamforming may be enabled during certain events, frames, and/or other conditions when a channel between a beamformer and a beamformee is reciprocal (i.e., packets are received and transmitted on the same frequency). In such cases, the beamformer may estimate channel state information (CSI) based on a packet received from the beamformee and use the estimated CSI to steer a beam in a direction towards the beamformee. In use cases that implement explicit transmit beamforming, the beamformee may estimate the CSI based on a packet received from the beamformer and provide the estimated CSI to the beamformer, which may then use the estimated CSI received from the beamformee to steer a beam in a direction towards the beamformee.

In an aspect of the disclosure, a method, a computer-readable medium, and an apparatus are provided. The apparatus may transmit a LMP version request PDU to a second device. The apparatus may receive a LMP version response PDU including at least one of a link layer identification, a version number, or a sub-version number associated with the second device. The apparatus may determine if one or more of the link layer identification, the version number, or the sub-version number included in the LMP version response PDU are associated with a recognized QLM. The apparatus may a first LMP encapsulated header PDU that includes a first QLMP feature request opcode to the second device when it is determined that one or more of the link layer identification, the version number, or the sub-version number included in the LMP version response PDU are associated with the recognized QLM.

Disclosed are techniques for improving performance of short-range wireless network channel scans using receiver diversity. In an aspect, an electronic device having two or more short-range wireless network receiver antennas determines whether to utilize different receiver antennas of the two or more short-range wireless network receiver antennas to perform concurrently scheduled channel scans for different short-range wireless network radio access technologies (RATs) supported by the electronic device, or to perform an accelerated channel scan for a single short-range wireless network RAT of the different short-range wireless network RATs supported by the electronic device, and performs the concurrently scheduled channel scans or the accelerated channel scan based on the determination.

A method for inductively-coupled communications is described. The method includes receiving a signal. The method also includes analyzing the signal to estimate a symbol timing error. Estimating the symbol timing error may include comparing a location of a pause, a low-to-high or a high-to-low transition in the received signal with an ideal location of a pause or a transition. The method further includes adjusting symbol timing to correct for the symbol timing error.

Systems and methods for timing recovery in near-field communication

Systems, methods, and devices for communicating with a second apparatus in a wireless communications network are described herein. In some aspects, a first wireless communication unit is configured to communicate with the second apparatus via a first wireless protocol. The first wireless communication unit may transmit a first message to the second apparatus. A second wireless communication unit is configured to communicate with the second apparatus over a communication link via a second wireless protocol. The second wireless communication unit may be further configured to disconnect the communication link if the first wireless communication unit does not receive a second message from the second apparatus within a predetermined amount of time after transmission of the first message.

Systems and methods for secure high-speed link maintenance via NFC

A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided in connection with reducing interference between NFC communications and other coexisting RAT based communications. In one example, a communications device may include an interface that is equipped to detect that a NFC communication and a coexisting RAT communication are to occur within a threshold time of each other, determine whether the communications will interfere with each other beyond a threshold level of interference, and align timing for the NFC communication and the RAT communication upon a determination that the communications will not interfere with each other beyond the threshold level of interference. In another example, a communications device may include an interface that is equipped to detect that a NFC subsystem has established a NFC connection, and provide a message to another RAT subsystem to establish a link or perform a handover.
