A composite fabric includes: a fabric backing; an adhesive layer; a midlayer barrier bonded to the fabric backing by the adhesive layer; and an external barrier bonded to the midlayer barrier, wherein the composite fabric has a hydrostatic pressure resistance of at least 100 psi and is sufficiently flexible such that it can be formed into a tube and everted. A process and an apparatus for producing the composite fabric are also disclosed. The composite fabric is particularly suitable for use as a liner in a cured-in-place pipe repair method.

Flexible barrier composite fabrics via an adhered film process

A method for preparing a composite fabric includes: casting a foamed liquid adhesive onto a smooth release-coated web; applying a fabric to the wet adhesive; fixing the adhesive to the fabric by drying; removing the release-coated web from the adhesive coated intermediate; depositing onto an embossed casting substrate a layer of liquid skin coat composition; applying the porous adhesive layer of the adhesive-coated intermediate to the wet skin layer; drying to fix the skin layer to the adhesive-coated intermediate; and separating the embossed casting substrate from the dried composite to provide the composite fabric. The resulting composite fabrics look and feel like soft shell composite fabrics.

Controlled porosity, transfer-coated fabrics

A method of forming a composite fabric includes bonding an adhesive layer to a web such that the adhesive layer conforms to surfaces of the web without sealing all web pores, and bonding a barrier layer to the adhesive layer, wherein the composite fabric MVT is at least 25% of the barrier layer MVT; and/or the composite fabric air permeability is at least 20% of the barrier layer air permeability. A composite fabric includes a web, a barrier layer and an adhesive layer therebetween, wherein: (a) the adhesive layer is conformingly bonded to structural members of the web without sealing all pores; (b) the adhesive layer is bonded to the barrier layer; (c) the composite fabric hydrostatic resistance is greater than 200 mbar; and (d) the composite fabric moisture transmission rate is greater than 600 g/m/24 h and greater than 3000 g/m/24 by ASTM E96, procedures B and BW, respectively.

Method of improving adhesive coverage to maximize waterproofness while maintaining breathability of adhesively laminated webs, and laminates produced thereby

An air-permeable composite fabric is provided. The composite fabric has an inner fabric layer, an outer fabric layer, and an intermediate vapor barrier. The vapor barrier is selected from adhesive material and an adhesive/membrane combination designed so the composite fabric has a level of air permeability to allow air flow between the first fabric layer and the second fabric layer and a variable level of water vapor diffusion resistance that decreases as air speed impinging on the composite fabric increases.
