A barrier system for alternately shutting and opening the vehicle entrance or pedestrian entrance of two lines or transport paths which cross one another and of which one is at least twice as wide as the other. On the four corners of the lines () which cross one another, in each case one barrier system () with in each case one barrier boom () which can be pivoted horizontally out of the vehicle entrance of one line () into the vehicle entrance of the other line () is installed. Two of the barrier systems () which lie diagonally opposite to one another and have in each case one barrier boom () which can be folded lengthwise from an elongate position. The two other barrier systems () which lie diagonally opposite to one another have in each case one conventional barrier boom () which is rigid over its entire length.

The invention relates to a rotary lock which is used to control the passage of people and comprises a locking unit that can be blocked and unblocked, can be rotated about an inclined rotational axis, and comprises preferably three blocking arms () which can successively, in progressive steps, be brought from a position blocking the passage of a person into a position freeing the passage of a person. In the event of a breakdown or danger, the unhindered passage of any number of people is enabled by locking a respective blocking arm () on a bearing plate () carrying the blocking arms () in an articulated manner (), by means of a locking element () engaging in an opening (). In the event of a breakdown, the locking element () of the blocking arm () located in the blocking position is mechanically released from the engagement in the opening (), and an eccentric force applied to the blocking arm () pivots the same out of the normal position thereof into the release position thereof. When the breakdown is over, the blocking arm () in question is temporarily blocked and automatically brought back into the normal position thereof by rotating the bearing plate () by less than a progressive step, as a result of the forced rotation thereof in relation to the bearing plate ().

A blocking element for a gate used as a checkpoint includes a housing having a height, a support having a second height and arranged in the housing, a horizontally directed pivot axis furnished on the support, and a pair of blocking vanes each of which are in a form of a circle sector, wherein the pair of blocking vanes are mounted, by way of a tapering sector inner side of the blocking vanes and such that the blocking vanes can pivot about the horizontally directed pivot axis. A drive motor is connected to the blocking vanes on the pivot axis, wherein the drive motor in response to a signal, slides one of the blocking vanes into the other in a telescopic manner from a position which blocks a passage of the gate into a position, which opens the passage of the gate, and wherein the blocking vanes can be drawn apart from one another in order to again block the passage of the gate.
