A knee retainer for a vehicle includes at least one dissipating device configured to dissipate air, which has been tempered by an electronic element of the vehicle and is conducted on to the knee retainer. The at least one dissipating device is configured to dissipate the tempered air in such a manner that the tempered air is conducted past a region of the vehicle to be protected against temperature effects caused by the tempered air.

A locking device for a cover of a storage compartment in a motor vehicle has at least one bolt element that is displaceable by an actuating handle and, in the locked state, engages in a first storage compartment recess for fixing the cover in a closed position. At least one securing bolt engages in a second storage compartment recess and is actuable via the bolt element so that it only extends out of the second recess if the bolt element already is extended out of the first recess and which thereby secures the cover against undesirably opening in the event of accident-induced accelerations. Increased safety standards can thereby be obtained.

Locking device

An instrument panel has a passenger airbag system such that, in the deployment of the airbag, an airbag cover on the top side of the instrument panel adjacent to the windshield is upwardly displaceable in the direction of the windshield about a transverse pivot axis. Thereby, a passage for the actual airbag of the passenger airbag module is cleared. In order to prevent damage to the windshield due to the airbag cover being pivoted upward when the airbag is deployed, a transverse intended breaking line is provided on the airbag cover at a distance from the pivot axis so that the airbag cover is bent upward about this intended breaking line when it comes to rest against the windshield.

A flexible gap covering between an adjustable steering column of a motor vehicle and an instrument panel, on one side, is fastened to the steering column covering and, on the other side, is fastened to the instrument panel. A flexible gap covering which permits a large adjusting range of the steering column, is easy to mount and has a corresponding appearance, has an upper covering and a lower covering. The upper covering is formed of two parts, which are arranged above one another and are fixedly connected with one another in a joint overlapping area. At least one tensioning element is applied to the overlapping area on the side facing away from the vehicle occupant compartment.
