The invention relates to a method of operating an optoelectronic sensor, in particular a light barrier, in which a light signal is sent by means of a light transmitter into a monitored region, and a light receiver designed to receive transmitted and reflected light signals delivers a reception signal, the amplitude of which is investigated for the presence of an object in the monitored region, with an article detection signal being transmitted if a recognition threshold is exceeded or fallen short of, characterized in that a plurality of switching threshold values are preset, with a switching signal being triggered when the received signal exceeds or falls short of these switching threshold values, in that the number of the switching signals which arise with respect to each switching threshold is found; and in that the recognition threshold value and the switching threshold values are set or adjusted in dependence on the numbers found.

Method for the operation of an optoelectronic sensor

The invention relates to a light sensor comprising a light transmitter for transmitting a light signal (T.sub.x, T.sub.xd) into a region to be monitored, a light receiver for receiving a reflected light signal (R.sub.x) from an object present in the monitored region, at least one signal generator for producing a first signal (T.sub.x) to energize the light transmitter and also for producing a second signal (L.sub.0) standing in a defined phase relationship to the first signal (T.sub.x), but with a different signal shape in comparison to the first signal (T.sub.x), and also a correlation stage for producing the correlation function (KKF) between the received light signal (R.sub.x) and the second signal (L.sub.0, L.sub.0d) as well as an evaluation stage following the correlation stage for determining information related to the distance between the light sensor and the object.

The invention relates to a method of operating an opto-electronic sensor, in particular a light barrier, in which a light signal is transmitted by means of a light transmitter into a monitored region and a light receiver designed to receive transmitted and reflected light signals delivers a signal, the amplitude of which is investigated for the presence of an object in the monitored region, wherein an object detection signal is transmitted when an amplitude threshold value is exceeded or fallen short of, wherein, before taking the sensor into operation, the threshold is automatically set in dependence on amplitude values which occur in a predetermined measurement time interval in the context of an initialization process with an object-free monitored region, and is thereby adapted to the operating conditions which exist during the initialization process, or wherein the threshold value is automatically adjusted during the sensor operation in dependence on amplitude values which have occurred in a specific measurement time interval and are thereby adapted to the respectively prevailing operating conditions.

Method for the operation of an opto-electronic sensor

A method for operating an optical light sensor for the detection of objects present in the monitored region in which light signals are transmitted into the monitored region in specific time intervals. The transmitted light signals and also the interference signals which occur are received and are evaluated for the detection of objects present in the monitored region, with the transmission reception of the light signals, and also the reception of the interference signals, respectively taking place in time sequential frame intervals. In the absence of an interference signal within a frame interval the transmission of the light signal takes place at the end of the frame interval defining a normed transmission timepoint for the respective light signal. On the occurrence of an interference signal within a frame interval the transmission of the next light signal is delayed timewise relative to its normed transmission timepoint. Furthermore a light sensor of this kind is described.
