The present invention pertains to use of sodium diacetate (NaHAc) as an antimicrobial agent against bacteria growing in biofilms. The aspects of the invention include a wound care product comprising sodium diacetate, a kit comprising a wound care product, and a method of treating an infected wound.

Wound care product

The present invention relates to a pre-filled disposable injection device and a needle cannula in combination. The prefilled disposable injection device () is made from a housing () containing a non-exchangeable cartridge () for storing a liquid drug sufficient for a number of injections. The proximal end of the pre-filled injection device () carries the dose setting button () and the distal end carries the needle cannula () having a lumen () through which the settable dose is expelled. The distal end () of the needle cannula () is covered by a telescopic needle covering shield () which shield () can operate between a first position covering the tip () of the needle cannula () and a second retracted position allowing an injection to be performed. The shield () carries a cleaner () which cleans at least the tip () of the needle cannula () between successive injections such that the prefilled injection device can be used without changing the needle cannula () during its life cycle.

Pre-filled disposable injection device

The present invention relates to the compound (E,Z)-ajoene of formula (1) for use in treatment of bacterial infections. Another aspect of the present invention is a composition comprising (E,Z)-ajoene of formula (1) and at least one antibiotic. Yet another aspect of the invention relates to a method for manufacturing (E,Z) ajoene of formula (1) wherein the conformation of the internal C&#x2550;C&#x2014; bond can be either E or Z or a mixture thereof, said method comprising reacting allicin of formula (3) with an acid in the presence of a solvent to provide (E,Z ajoene) of formula (1) as defined above. Yet another aspect of the invention is (E,Z)-ajoene of formula 1 obtainable by the method described above.

The present invention relates to wound care products, devices and methods incorporating acetic acid for the treatment of bacterial infections, in particular bacterial biofilm infections. In particular it relates to a wound care product comprising acetic acid, wherein the product comprises at least one further antibacterial compound; a delivery system comprising a container connected to a means of delivery which is connected to a pad, wherein said container comprises a composition comprising acetic acid and said pad comprises a self-adhesive material; a kit comprising a dressing and an adhesive membrane, wherein the dressing comprises a composition comprising acetic acid; a method of treating a wound comprising a) applying acetic acid to the wound and b) applying a negative pressure to the wound.
