A method for detecting a fault in an electrical machine, e.g., a synchronous motor, a motor control unit for controlling an electrical machine, and a motor arrangement having such a motor control unit are disclosed. According to the method, rotation angle data are determined, which data are dependent on a rotation angle of a rotor of the electrical machine in the absence of the fault. In addition, additional data are determined and allow conclusions to be drawn on the fault. A fault is detected if the rotation angle data satisfy a first criterion and the additional data satisfy a second criterion.

Method for detecting a fault in a motor arrangement with an electrical machine and motor control unit

A motor control system is provided for field-oriented control of an electric motor for driving a vehicle. The motor control system includes a current setpoint creator, which is designed to receive a torque setpoint as an input signal and to output a torque-creating current setpoint and at least one field-creating current setpoint as output signals in order to control the electric motor in a field-oriented manner. An exceptional situation detection device detects a present torque setpoint, calculates a change based on the present torque setpoint and an earlier torque setpoint, and detects an exceptional situation if the magnitude of the change exceeds a specified threshold value. The motor control system is designed to adapt the torque-creating current setpoint based on the present torque setpoint when the exceptional situation is detected, thereby bypassing the current setpoint creator.

Motor controller and method for the field-oriented control of an electric motor

A method for sensorless control of a separately excited synchronous machine having a rotor includes the following steps: feeding a test signal on a parameter of an electrical current driving the rotor; measuring the parameter of the electrical current driving the rotor on an axis of the coordinate system describing the synchronous machine; determining an error signal by correlating the measured parameter of the electrical current driving the rotor with a temporally delayed test signal which is determined from the fed test signal; and adjusting a rotor angle as a reaction to the error signal if the error signal has a value not equal to zero.

Method and device for the diagnosis of an NOx sensor for an internal combustion engine

A regeneration method for a storage catalytic converter in an exhaust-gas purification system of an internal combustion engine, has the following steps: (a) switching of the internal combustion engine from a standard operating mode with a lean exhaust gas to a regeneration mode with a rich exhaust gas, (b) measurement of a nitrogen oxide concentration in the exhaust gas of the internal combustion engine after the switchover to the regeneration mode, (c) determination of a characteristic variable of a desorption peak of the measured nitrogen oxide concentration after the switchover to the regeneration mode, and (d) minimization of the characteristic variable of the desorption peak through controlling of the internal combustion engine as a function of the measured characteristic variable of the desorption peak.

Regeneration method for a storage catalytic converter

An internal combustion engine has a NOX storage catalyst. A storage capacity (NOX_STC) of the NOX storage catalyst is determined for the purpose of operating the internal combustion engine.
