A seal includes a torque shoulder and a seal member complimentary to a concavity in the torque shoulder. A method for sealing a connection includes elastically deflecting a seal member, and contacting a torque shoulder with the seal member. The method further includes preventing further movement of a first component and a second component toward one another after contacting of the torque shoulder. A borehole system including a borehole in a subsurface formation, a downhole tool in the borehole, the tool including the seal described above.

A seal system, including a first member comprising a material having a first density and the member having portions of a first density, a second member configured to be mechanically connected to the first member, an compliance portion at the first member, the compliance portion comprising the same material density and the portion having a second density, the compliance portion positioned to make contact with the second member when mechanically connected to the second member. A downhole component includes a member formed from a first material. The member includes an end having a first plurality of external threads and a second end having a first plurality of internal threads. One of the first plurality of external threads and the second plurality of internal threads includes a first portion formed from the first material and a second portion formed from a second material that is distinct from the first material.

Downhole tool connection formed from multiple materials

A plug system includes a locked member of a first plug and a free member of a second plug. The locked member has a first locking end having a first anti-rotation feature. The free member has a second locking end having a second anti-rotation feature. The first anti-rotation feature and the second anti-rotation feature are configured to fit together to resist a rotation between the free member and the locked member to thereby resist rotation of the second plug with respect to the first plug.
