A cannulation simulation device and methods for using the device are described. The device is designed to teach dialysis technicians/nurses or patients to cannulate arteriovenous (AV) fistulas for hemodialysis. The simulator includes one or more artificial fistulas. The simulator includes a pad of simulated flesh that can cover the artificial fistula(s). The pad can be reversed, rotated, and replaced with thicker or thinner pads. A personal simulation device for teaching self-cannulation can include a sleeve for a limb that can carry an artificial fistula. A clinical simulation device can include a plurality of artificial fistulas held in a support. Optionally, the artificial fistulas can vibrate to simulate an actual fistula.

A retrofit cabling kit is suitable for use connecting an organ and a speaker, wherein the organ may be one of a Hammond® brand, model B3 or C3 organ and the speaker may be one of a Leslie® brand, model 122 or 147 speaker. The kit may include interfaces for attachment to each of the organ and the speaker and cables connecting the interfaces.

A power system for and method of operation of an arteriovenous access valve system including two valves positioned near arteriovenous grafts, an actuator assembly in fluid communication with the valves and including a driver assembly, at least one pressure sensor, a separate activator device for driving the driver assembly, and a sensor communications device communicatively coupled to the at least one pressure sensor for wirelessly transmitting pressure measurements. The power system and method also include using an initiator device located in the activator device to power remotely the sensor communications device, for example via near field communication such as via a radio frequency field.

Power system for and method of operation of magnetically-activated arteriovenous access valve system

A device for an isochronous data communication system between a first data terminal having a first clock and a remote communication unit having a second clock. A clock multiplex circuit receives the first and second clock signals. A logic means selects either the first or second clock signal as a data timing signal. The data timing signal will correspond with the second clock signal if present, if no second clock signal is present then the data timing signal will correspond with the first clock signal. A communication control device receives the data timing signal for controlling the timing of the communication.

Communication device for transmitting asynchronous formatted data

A method and apparatus for storing data in which the data is checked for an error without requiring the data to include an error correction code. Included in the system is a logic circuit for dividing a data word by a polynomial during the time the data word is being written into the primary memory unit resulting in the generation of a remainder which is stored in an auxiliary memory unit. When reading the data word from the primary memory unit, the data word is again divided by the same polynomial and the remainder compared with the remainder stored in the auxiliary memory unit. If the remainders match, no error was introduced during the storing of the data in the main memory unit. If the remainders do not match, an error is indicated. This system allows a data word to be stored in a main or primary memory unit without requiring the word to include error correction bytes.
