An improved bearing or bushing body extraction from a stuffing box using jack screws is provided. The bearing or bushing seal body includes at least one jack screw on each half of a split body. The jack screw passes axially through the sidewall of the body to the inner flange of the stuffing box and turning the jack screw against the inner flange to lift the body from the stuffing box. A single inner threaded or double threaded insert with a reverse outer thread and standard inner thread is inserted into the bottom wall of the body so that the body may be installed flush against the inner flange. By turning the jack screw through the insert and against the flange, the seal body is pushed out rather than pulled.

A fluid sealing system for a rotary mechanical device including a pillar lantern ring having a bottom and a top end cap with pillars or columns connecting the end caps is formed by additive manufacturing. The bottom annular end cap has an outside face and an opposed inside face defining a height therebetween and the upper annular end cap has an inside face and an opposed outside face defining a height therebetween with a plurality of integrally formed substantially cylindrical axial columns connecting the two opposed inside faces of the two end caps.

Method for forming a lantern ring for a shaft sealing system

An improved remotely adjustable gland follower for a stuffing box of a rotary or reciprocal mechanical device is provided. In one embodiment of the invention, the gland follower includes a body portion with at least one cylinder having a fluid inlet at the power end and a piston. The piston has a hydraulic end positioned within the cylinder and an opposed packing face surrounding the shaft and configured to extend into the seal cavity. The piston engages and compresses the packing in the seal cavity when pressurized by fluid introduced into the fluid inlet at the power end of the cylinder. At least one o-ring groove may be formed in the hydraulic end of the piston to receive at least one o-ring for improving the hydraulic seal in the cylinder.

A fluid sealing system for a rotary mechanical device includes a pillar lantern ring having two end caps with pillars or columns connecting the end caps. A bushing or bearing seal element is positioned at the bottom of the seal cavity and the pillar lantern ring is positioned adjacent the element at the flush port with compressible packing rings between the lantern ring and the gland follower. The pillars or columns are axial supports to prevent the ring from being crushed when the gland follower is tightened down. The pillars allow for a larger reservoir volume of flush in case of temporary flush loss compared to a conventional lantern ring with holes between the outer and inner groove surfaces of the lantern ring. The outer surface of the lantern ring is closely dimensioned to the inner bore of the stuffing box. In one embodiment the lantern ring is a suspended lantern ring with an inner diameter greater than the shaft to avoid any and all contact with the shaft in order to extend its working life.

A device for removing moisture from a rug or other item, such as a tent or a tarp, etc. in a short time while preventing compression of the rug or the item and the resultant crushing of fringe comprising a shaft disposed on a horizontal axis having a large diameter with a rotatable smaller diameter inner tube therein, the smaller diameter inner tube having apertures therethrough, the smaller diameter inner tube being open at both ends, the inner tube being driven to rotate, and fluid removal means connected to the larger diameter tube for removal of fluid from the device, whereby when a wet rug is loaded into the smaller diameter inner tube, and rotated the moisture in the rug is spun from the rug through the apertures into the larger diameter outer tube and the moisture is drained from the device. A wet item can be loaded from either end and the item can be unloaded from either end after the moisture has been removed.
