A system for recovering methylene chloride from an aqueous waste stream is disclosed. The system includes a distillation unit, at least one heat transfer unit, receptacles for methylene chloride and waste product, a temperature probe and a controller configured to selectively divert product flow from the distillation unit to either of the receptacles or to a recycle line back to the distillation unit depending upon the temperature measured by the probe. Also disclosed is a related process of recovering methylene chloride with such a system.

Process for recovering methylene chloride

An airtight sampling apparatus for effectively and accurately sampling a waste solution including volatile organic compounds (VOC's) from a main waste solution conduit having a first pressure P , is provided. The airtight sampling apparatus includes (a) a waste solution sampling conduit having a first end and a second end; (b) an input check valve connecting the first end of the waste solution sampling conduit to the main waste solution conduit; (c) an actuatable waste solution containing and discharge cylinder assembly having a first end and a second end connected to the second end of the waste solution sampling conduit; (d) an attachable and removable airtight sample holding container; and (e) a pressure adjustable output valve for coupling to the airtight sample holding container, the pressure adjustable output valve being located between the input check valve and the second end of the waste solution containing and discharge cylinder assembly, thereby enabling effective and accurate withdrawal of waste solutions including volatile organic compounds (VOC's).

A contact cleaner roll cleaning system including a frame to support the system relative to a movable web having a first major surface and a second major surface on opposite sides of the web, at least a first rotatable contact cleaner roll supported on the frame disposed for rolling contact with the first major surface, an activatable web transporting device adapted to transport or interrupt the transport of the web past the first rotatable contact cleaner roll, and a first indexing device adapted to roll the first rotatable contact cleaner roll against the first major surface in a first direction while the transport of the web past the first rotatable contact cleaner roll is interrupted. This system is used to clean coated and uncoated webs.

A process for cleaning a web having a first major surface and a second major surface on opposite sides of the web, the process including transporting the web while maintaining at least a first rotatable contact cleaner roll in rolling contact with the first major surface to clean the first major surface; interrupting the transporting of the web; rolling the first rotatable contact cleaner roll against the first major surface in at least a first direction while the transport of the web remains interrupted; and rolling the first rotatable contact cleaner roll against the first major surface in the opposite direction while transport of the web remains interrupted.
