A security ecosystem, device and method for controlling workflows based on network confirmation processes is provided. A first device receives, from a second device, a message for delivery to a talkgroup on a given network, the second device executing a safety workflow comprising: a trigger that caused transmission of the; and one or more responsive actions that depend on whether transmission/delivery of the message to the talkgroup is successful or unsuccessful. The first device selects a mechanism for determining success or failure of transmission/delivery of the message based on a message confirmation process of the given network. The first device provides, to the given network, the message for delivery to the talkgroup and receives a reply to the message. The first device provides, to the second device, an indication of success or failure of transmission/delivery of the message, based on the reply and the mechanism selected.

One example embodiments of a wireless base station includes an electronic processor and a transceiver coupled to the electronic processor. The electronic processor is configured to operate to communicate wirelessly via the transceiver with subscriber units utilizing time division duplexing (TDD) and a first frame configuration, and characterize each of a plurality of sub-frames of the first frame configuration as being either conflicting or non-conflicting. The electronic processor is configured to estimate link conditions for the subscriber units and determine, based on the link conditions, whether the subscriber units are resilient or non-resilient. The electronic processor is configured to assign resilient subscriber units to conflicting sub-frames and non-resilient subscriber units to non-conflicting sub-frames.

Systems and methods for extended range direct mode enhanced channel access in digital mobile radio systems. One example method for operating a portable communication device includes receiving a transmit request, and, responsive to receiving the transmit request, transmitting a single transmit burst including a source identifier identifying the portable communications device and starting an enhanced channel access timer. The method includes, when the enhanced channel access timer expires without receiving at least one from the group consisting of a receive idle burst and a receive burst, transmitting a signal based on the transmit request. The method includes, when a receive burst including a second source identifier is received while the enhanced channel access timer has not expired, responsive to receiving the receive burst, comparing the source identifier to the second source identifier. The method includes, responsive to determining that the second source identifier matches the source identifier, transmitting the signal.

A method and server provide for routing traffic to user equipment in a talkgroup. The server receives a request for a new talkgroup call for a talkgroup. The server determines a total number of device targets for the talkgroup call. When the total number of device targets for the new talkgroup call is greater than a predetermined total target threshold number, a call grant for the new talkgroup call is routed to each device target for the talkgroup via a Land Mobile Radio (LMR) network. When the total number of device targets for the new talkgroup call is less than the predetermined total target threshold number, the call grant for the new talkgroup call is routed to each device target for the talkgroup via a preferred network for each device target.

Disclosed herein are methods and systems for dynamically adjusting frequency offsets for mitigating interference. One embodiment takes the form of a process carried out by a mobile radio configured to use an adjustable transmit frequency. The mobile radio estimates an expected base-station-receive power level with respect to transmissions from to a base station. The mobile radio adjusts the transmit frequency to be a center frequency of a radio channel plus a default frequency offset responsive to the estimated expected base-station-receive power level being less than a first threshold. The mobile radio adjusts the transmit frequency to be the center frequency plus a modified frequency offset responsive to the estimated expected base-station-receive power level being greater than a second threshold. The modified frequency offset is greater in magnitude than the default frequency offset. The mobile radio transmits an uplink signal to the base station over the adjusted transmit frequency.

Methods and systems for dynamically adjusting frequency offsets for mitigating interference

A method and apparatus are described for managing a mass registration scenario in a two-way radio system. A site controller in a trunked radio system detects a mass registration condition in which registration requests by subscriber units are likely to collide on an inbound control channel. During the mass registration condition, the site controller initiates a restriction period by instructing subscriber units that are members of particular talkgroups to temporarily cease registration requests. Those talkgroup members are permitted to resume their registration requests when a predetermined delay time has passed since the members were instructed to cease registration, or when a particular silence time has passed without registration activity over the control channel.

A radio controller monitors a radio channel for a first period of time and determines a first indication of signals received without detecting synchronization or with detecting synchronization but failing error correction during that time. Responsive to determining that the first indication is above a predetermined threshold indicative of an interference condition, causing an instruction to be broadcast identifying a subset of subscriber devices allowed transmitting random access requests on the radio channel. The radio controller monitors the radio channel for a second period of time and determines a second indication during that time. If the second indication is an improvement over the first indication, the radio controller determines that the interference condition is caused by the mass random access event.

Method and apparatus for responding to a potential mass random access event

A radio affiliates, via a first channel, with at least one talk group the radio is interested in receiving calls from, sends a request to transmit location information on a separate revert channel, and receives a first grant time period to transmit location information on a particular revert channel. The radio moves at substantially the first grant time period, away from the first channel to the revert channel to transmit location information or request a second grant time period on the revert channel, receives an announcement on the revert channel during the first grant time period that a call of interest associated with the at least one talk group started while the radio was on the revert channel, determines an assigned traffic channel for the call of interest, and switches from the revert channel to the assigned traffic channel in order to receive the call of interest.

A method for enabling full duplex direct mode calls between radios in an N:1 slotting ratio TDMA radio system includes detecting a request for a full duplex direct mode call at a first radio, transmitting in a particular slot of a first recurring time slot of N recurring time slots on a first single frequency one of a call request and a call header identifying the call as a full duplex call. Subsequently transmitting, by the first radio, during a plurality of subsequent first recurring time slots, outbound voice and/or data transmissions. And receiving, during a plurality of second recurring time slots of the N recurring time slots, each second recurring timeslot positioned immediately adjacent a respective first recurring time slot in an interleaved manner, inbound voice and/or data transmissions from the second radio and playing back the inbound voice and/or data transmission at the first radio.

Full duplex direct mode individual and group calling using adjacent time slots in a TDMA system

A method for enabling full duplex individual calls in repeater mode between two subscriber units (SUs) in a N:1 slotting ratio time division multiple access (TDMA) radio system includes receiving a request for a full duplex individual call from a first SU identifying a second SU as a target of the call. Determining to grant the request and subsequently assigning a first time slot of the N time slots on a first single frequency for one of inbound and outbound transmissions for the call between an assigned second repeater and the first SU and a second time slot on the first single frequency for the other of inbound and outbound transmissions for the call between the assigned second repeater and the first SU. Further, a grant message is transmitted to the first SU indicating the assigned first single frequency and assigned first and second time slots.
