A system generates a user interface that enables a user to generate a chart from one or more statements of a data processing package. Via one or more user interactions with the user interface, the system may receive one or more chart parameters for a chart. Using a statement from the data processing package and the one or more chart parameters, the system may generate an additional statement and append the generated statement to the data processing package to form an enriched data processing package. The system may communicate the enriched data processing package to a search service for execution. The system may display the results in an interactive chart.

Via one or more user interactions with the user interface, the system may receive a modified time range for the statement. The modified time range may be appended to the data processing package to form an enriched data processing package. The system may communicate the enriched data processing package to a search service for execution. The system may display the results in the user interface.

In some embodiments a data analysis tool includes a graphical user interface through which an interactive set of field identifiers is displayed. Each of the listed field identifiers may reference fields associated with a set of events returned in response to a search query, the set of events including machine data produced by components within an information technology (IT) environment that reflects activity in the IT environment. In response to user selections of field identifiers included in the displayed set, a data analysis tool may cause display of manipulable visualizations based on values included in fields referenced by the selected field identifiers.

Systems and methods are disclosed for assigning a global parameter to one or more queries present in a single graphical user interface (GUI) displayed in a client browser. The client browser causes the display of a first user interface field in a first area of the GUI, where the first user interface field can be used to enter or edit a first query. The client browser further causes the display of a second user interface field in a second area of the GUI, where the second user interface field can be used to enter or edit a second query. The client browser also receives a selection of a global parameter, applies the global parameter to the first and second queries, receives a modification to the global parameter for the second query, and causes execution of the first query using the global parameter and of the second query using the modification.

A computerized method is disclosed. The method comprises detecting a change in a first webpage, constructing a search query based on the changed detected in the first webpage, determining a second webpage is associated with the first webpage, and synchronizing at least a portion of the second webpage with the first webpage based on the search query. The method may comprise updating a display of the first webpage based on the detected change. In certain embodiments of the method, detecting the change includes detecting input indicating one or more search parameters and the search query may be a text string including one or more alphanumeric characters. Additionally, the search query may comprise a pipelined command language. The synchronization of webpages displayed in separate tabs or windows of a web browser may use a browser extension to maintain state, as well as track and coordinate changes between the tabs or windows.

The disclosed embodiments include a method performed by a data intake and query system. The method includes populating each metric including a measure value, cataloging metadata in an in-memory metrics catalog, where the metadata is related to the metrics. The method further includes receiving a search query including search criteria, evaluating the search query by applying the search criteria to the metadata of the metrics catalog to obtain results that satisfy the search criteria, and causing display, on a display device, of the results or data indicative of the results.

The method includes ingesting each metric including at least one key value and a measured value taken of a computing resource, and storing each metric in an index of a metrics store, where the index defines at least one dimension populated with the at least one key value and a measure populated with the measured value. The method further includes cataloging metadata in a metrics catalog, where the metadata is related to the metrics stored in the metrics store, performing an analysis of metrics data included in the metrics store and/or the metrics catalog to obtain results, and causing display of the results or an indication of the results on a display device.

Embodiments are disclosed for a visualization system that facilitates exploration and analysis of large sets of data by providing for synchronized, independent visualizations of metrics or event-derived value sets. The visualizations can reflect a variety of data, including pre-prepared metrics, event-derived values, or a combination thereof. Global parameter controls can enable synchronized interaction with multiple visualizations, such as modifying parameters of respective visualizations with a single input. Local parameter controls can enable interaction with an individual visualization, independent of interaction with other visualizations. A variety of tools and interfaces are provided to manipulate the visualizations to facilitate analysis across a variety of metrics within a single interface.
