The present invention relates to a composition comprising: a) a first component comprising a poly(methyl met 5 hacrylate) (PMMA), a contrast agent, a radical donor and calcium based particles; and b) a second component comprising methyl methacrylate (MMA), a radical scavenger, and a polymerization accelerator; wherein the composition has an average setting time of about 13 minutes.

Calcium particle-embedded, snap-to-dough, high-viscosity bone cement

A bone support and/or barrier device and having an implantable structure including an outer surface, an inner surface, a first bone contact portion, and a second bone contact portion. The structure is collapsible to an undeployed configuration capable of percutaneous insertion to the interior of a bone and expandable to a deployed configuration in the bone. In the deployed configuration, the first bone contact portion contacts a first portion of the bone, and the second bone contact portion contacts a second portion of the bone such that a load placed on the first portion of the bone is transferred through the implantable structure to the second portion of the bone. The implantable structure includes a barrier material adapted to restrict bone filler material inserted into the bone adjacent the inner surface of the structure from flowing to the outer surface of the structure. A method is also disclosed.

Bone support device, system and method

Devices and methods for performing a procedure within a spine are disclosed herein. In one embodiment, a method includes coupling a first implant to a pedicle of a first vertebra of a spinal column such that at least a portion of the first implant is disposed between a first spinous process and a second spinous process of the spinal column. A second implant is coupled to a pedicle of a second vertebra of the spinal column. At least a portion of an outer surface of the first implant is configured to contact at least a portion of an outer surface of the second implant when the spinal column is in extension. The outer surface of the first implant and the outer surface of the second implant being at a spaced distance from each other when the spinal column is in flexion.

Spinous-process implants and methods of using the same

Spinal implants and methods for performing surgical procedures on the spine are describe herein. In one embodiment, for example, a method includes percutaneously inserting into a body an expandable member having a first configuration, a second configuration and a third configuration. The expandable member includes a support portion and a retention portion. The support portion has a longitudinal axis and is configured to be disposed between adjacent spinous processes. The retention portion is configured to limit movement of the support portion along the longitudinal axis. When the expandable member is in the first configuration, it is disposed in a first location between the adjacent spinous processes. The expandable member is then expanded from the first configuration to the second configuration. The expandable member is then contracted from the second configuration to the third configuration and disposed in a second location, the second location being different from the first location.
