A dispenser includes a dispenser container and a valve assembly including a valve connected to the dispenser container. The dispenser container is at least partially filled with activated carbon and/or another adsorbent and a dispensing carrier gas. An ingredient is contained in an ingredient containing reservoir. The valve assembly further includes an upper end of which is in operative communication with an actuator spray nozzle, and a lower end connected to the ingredient containing reservoir, and a means to prevent the activated carbon and/or another adsorbent from passing into the valve assembly when the pressurised dispensing carrier gas is released. On actuation, the dispensing carrier gas is released together with the ingredient, and the ingredient and dispensing carrier gas mix before exiting the dispenser.

Bag on valve technology

A dispenser and a method of delivering an ingredient from a dispenser are disclosed. The dispenser includes a dispenser container and a valve assembly comprising a valve connected to the dispenser container. The dispenser container is partly filled with activated carbon or another adsorbent and a dispensing carrier gas. An ingredient is contained in an ingredient containing reservoir. The valve assembly includes a component comprising a tube, an upper end of which is in operative communication with an actuator spray nozzle, and a lower end of which divides into first and second fitments which receive respectively first and second tubes. The first tube is connected to the ingredient containing reservoir. The second tube includes a frit or filter to prevent the activated carbon passing into the second tube when the pressurized dispensing carrier gas is released.

Various embodiments of the present invention are directed to methods of preparing a biogas purification system. Embodiments include flushing an adsorber with a gas stream that is separable by the downstream biogas purification process. Other embodiments include using the separable gas stream to flush a saturated adsorber. Additional embodiments include using a gas stream comprised of CO.

Method for inerting activated carbon in biogas purification equipment

A container for releasable pressurized gas or other active ingredient is provided. The container is packed with activated carbon loaded with adsorbed propellant. The container provides a replacement for the hydrocarbon or hydrofluorocarbon propellants currently used in aerosols, dusters and foghorns. A method for making such a replacement system is also provided.

Carbon filled pressurized container and method of making same

Treatment of un-wetted or low moisture activated carbon with a suitable quantity of carbon dioxide provides a material which, on contact with water, controls pH in treatment water. Use of this treated activated carbon in a water treatment system provides water having an essentially neutral pH which is immediately potable thereby eliminating the necessity to drain and dispose of any soak water. The contact pH of the treated carbon remains within the potable pH range for treatment of more than 100 bed volumes. Additionally, the modified carbon may minimize metal leaching from contaminants in the water.

Carbon pre-treatment for the stabilization of pH in water treatment

A composition for effecting heat transfer to or from a fluid, the composition comprising a primary adsorbent material, such as activated carbon, for adsorption of a gas, such as carbon dioxide, and a graphite material in an amount of 0.01 to 80% by weight of the total composition. A binder may also be included in the composition to aid heat transfer. The composition may be incorporated into an apparatus () that includes sealing means () for retaining the gas on the surface of the material and a release mechanism () for breakage of the seal, said apparatus being provided with a vessel () for holding fluid.

Process for the production of fluoromethylhexafluoroisopropylether

Process for the recovery of hydrogen fluoride (HF) from a mixture, preferably an azeotropic mixture, of HF with water and/or an organic compound such as 134a, 125 or 133a, which comprises contacting the mixture with lithium fluoride or an alkaline earth metal fluoride to form a metal fluoride-hydrogen fluoride compound (e.g. lithium bifluoride, LiHF.sub.2), separating the compound and decomposing it to liberate hydrogen fluoride therefrom. The process is useful for recovering HF from azeotropic or azeotropic-like mixtures.

Hydrogen fluoride recovery process

A process for the production of hydrofluorocarbons, in particular hydrofluoroalkanes such as difluoromethane, which comprises contacting an .alpha.-fluoro-ether, in particular a fluorinated dialkyl ether such as bis(fluoromethyl)ether in the liquid phase with a Lewis acid such as a fluoride of Nb, Sb, B, Ta, Al or Ti.

A process for the production of a hydro(halo)fluorocarbon which comprises heating an .alpha.-fluoroether in the vapor phase at elevated temperature. .alpha.-fluoroethers are obtained by reacting a non-enolisable aldehyde with hydrogen fluoride to form an intermediate and reacting the intermediate with an alcohol or a halogenating agent. A composition comprising bis(fluoromethyl)ether and less than an equimolar amount of water, a process for the production of the composition comprising contacting formaldehyde with hydrogen fluoride and separating at least some of the by-product water from bis(fluoromethyl)ether, and use of the composition for the production of difluoromethane.
