A retractable barrier system for inhibiting access to designated private and public areas both indoors and outdoors, including by way of example but not limitation, retail and warehouse aisles and the like, includes a flexible screen retractable and extensible from a rotatable rod coupled to a mounting member, the mounting member having an attachment mechanism for coupling with a receiving member, wherein a winding mechanism is coupled to the rotatable rod for retractably receiving and extending the flexible screen, the flexible screen is comprised of material having a sufficient modulus of elasticity to promote substantially smooth retractably receiving thereof and may further include tapering between ends thereof, and the winding mechanism may include a guide member having a surface of sufficient diameter oriented substantially perpendicular to the flexible screen to guide the flexible screen upon retractably receiving the screen.

A retractable barrier system and method for inhibiting access to designated private and public areas both indoors and outdoor, including retail and warehouse aisles and the like, includes a flexible screen retractable and extensible from a rotatable rod coupled to a mounting member, the mounting member having an attachment mechanism for coupling with a receiving member such as storage rack assembly support post or bracket or the like.

A sensing head for sludge detectors for use in effecting accurate sludge level detection in settling tanks, clarifiers, digesters, and the like, wherein the head that serves as the device probe comprises a cylindrical housing centered on its longitudinally extending axis and defining a reentrant indentation at one side of the head which extends toward the head other side beyond the longitudinal axis and defines a pair of opposed upper and lower housing walls and a gap therebetween, with such walls respectively having a light source and a light sensitive device, both separately lens covered and field replacable free of tool use, and in electrically connected relation with the detector cable of, for instance, portable detectors, to which cable the head is separately connected, for make-break light principal operation when the head is submerged in use; the head housing has upper and lower end caps sealingly secured thereto, an elastomeric bumper mounted on the lower end cap to protect the head lower end and sides from damage, a lens guard mounted in the housing gap to protect the head sensing mechanism, and a cooperating pressure nut, gland ring, grommet and strain relief washer arrangement at the head upper end for leak free strain relief securement of the head to and about the cable end to which the head is connected.

Sensing probe for sludge detectors

A method and apparatus for achieving high quality treatment of organic waste water (both domestic and industrial types), which can also be used to treat organically contaminated water supplies or to reduce hazardous organic wastes (cyanides, PCBs, etc.) The apparatus operates at elevated pressures (up to about 35 psig), at high levels of dissolved oxygen (over 5 PPM), and at high concentrations of activated sludge (about 10,000 mg/l, MLSS). It consists of four separate process compartments (2 aeration compartments, a separator and a clarifier) which are contained within three vessels or alternatively in two vessels. The process compartments are linked in series by passageways and by piping and are maintained at a uniform pressure using a common manifold. The process is designed for simplicity of operation, compactness, and maintenance by a single part time attendant.

Method and apparatus for treating organic wastewater

A method and apparatus for treating a continuous stream of organic wastewater using highly concentrated activated sludge (10,000 mg/l MLSS), elevated atmospheric pressure, and high levels of dissolved oxygen. The apparatus consists of three pressurized vessels linked in series by piping, and maintained at equal pressure by means of a common manifold. The first vessel receives the mixed liquor consisting of macerated sewage and return activated sludge and thoroughly aerates it with diffused air bubbles. The liquor then flows by gravity into the second pressurized vessel where flocculation and further aeration occur. From an overflow/transfer box in vessel 2, the liquor flows by gravity into the bottom tier of the third vessel which functions as a cyclone separator. The concentrate is drawn from the bottom of the vessel by a return sludge pump and recycled to the first vessel. The centrate rises into the upper tier of the third vessel where it is clarified and discharged as tertiary quality effluent.
