Resins which comprise polymers which contain multiple acetal groups have been developed which are useful for crosslinking and adhesion promotion in coating and adhesive applications. The polymers which make up these resins are prepared by the addition of aminoacetals to polymers containing anhydride functionality. The polymers are modified by titration with a tertiary amine or alkali base.

Multiple acetal containing resins

Resins which comprise polymers which contain multiple acetal groups have been developed which are useful for crosslinking and adhesion promotion in coating and adhesive applications. The polymers which make up these resins are prepared by the addition of aminoacetals to polymers containing anhydride functionality. The polymers are modified by titration with ammonia or a primary or secondary amine which solubilizes the polymer in aqueous systems.

The polymers which make up these resins are prepared by the addition of aminoacetals to polymers containing anhydride functionality. Optionally, these polymers may be modified by titration with a tertiary amine or alkali base which solubilizes the polymer in aqueous systems.

Multiple acetal containing resins for crosslinking and adhesion promotion

A novel product is disclosed for cleaning up oil spills. The product comprises ultra-fine polymeric fibers which are produced from various polymeric materials by mixing with thermoplastic poly(vinyl alcohol) and extruding the mixture through a die followed by further orientation. The poly(vinyl alcohol) is extracted to yield liberated ultra-fine polymeric fibers. The fibers are ultimately processed into said product, such as a mat, which is placed directly on the oil spill to absorb the oil.
