A fitting connectable to an end portion of a pipe generally includes a tubular insert member configured to be received at least partly within the end portion of the pipe, and a retention member coupled to the insert member and configured to be received at least partly within the end portion of the pipe. The retention member operates in conjunction with the insert member to engage the end portion of the pipe and impart an increased force against an inner wall of the pipe in response to forces tending to separate the fitting from the end portion of the pipe. The insert member includes a plurality of reinforcement ribs formed on its inner surface which provide support to the insert member and help prevent damage thereto from transverse bending forces applied during installation.

A fitting, for use in making a fluid connection with a pipe, generally includes a saddle adapted to couple the fitting to the pipe, and a tap integrally formed with the saddle and extending generally away from saddle. The tap is configured to press-fit into the pipe for establishing the fluid connection between the fitting and the pipe. The fitting also includes a passageway defined by the saddle and the tap, for receiving fluid from the pipe and into the fitting via the tap.

A fitting for a pipe generally includes a saddle for coupling the fitting to the pipe and a tap for establishing fluid communication between the fitting and the pipe. The saddle defines a channel extending generally longitudinally through the saddle, and the channel is free of threads. And, the tap is configured to couple to the saddle within the channel of the saddle. A press for installing the fitting to the pipe generally includes a housing configured to releasably couple to the fitting, and a spike configured to releasably couple to the housing and extend at least partly through the fitting for piercing the pipe to thereby allow at least part of the fitting to be inserted into the pipe through the piercing in the pipe to thereby establishing fluid communication between the fitting and the pipe.

A pipe-fitting adaptor assembly connectable to the coupling end of a pipe fitting is provided for reconfiguring existing pipe fittings with alternate pipe coupling ends. The fitting adaptor assembly has a tubular receptacle member configured to fit over and seal against an insert member of the fitting. A sliding retention ring carried along a ramped section of the fitting insert member interlocks with an opening formed in the sidewall of the receptacle member of the fitting adaptor assembly, such that decoupling forces tend to expand the locking ring further into the sidewall opening of the fitting adaptor assembly. The fitting adaptor assembly has a coupling end configured differently than the insert member for connection to otherwise incompatible alternative pipe sizes and/or pipe coupling configurations.

A fitting connectable to an end portion of a pipe generally includes an insert member configured to be received at least partly within the end portion of the pipe, and a retention member coupled to the insert member and configured to be received at least partly within the end portion of the pipe. The retention member operates in conjunction with the insert member to engage the end portion of the pipe and impart an increased force against an inner wall of the pipe in response to an increase of internal pipe pressure, thereby frictionally securing the end portion of the pipe on the insert member as internal pipe pressure increases during use.

A fitting connectable to an end portion of a pipe generally includes an insert member configured to be received at least partly within the end portion of the pipe, a retention member coupled to the insert member and configured to be received at least partly within the end portion of the pipe, and a sealing member carried by the insert member adjacent the retention member. The retention member and seal engage the end portion of the pipe to help frictionally secure and seal the end portion of the pipe on the insert member when the insert member is received at least partly within the end portion of the pipe.

A fitting connectable to an end portion of a pipe generally includes a housing configured for receiving at least part of the end portion of the pipe into the housing, and an insert member disposed at least partly within the housing. The insert member is configured to be received at least partly within the end portion of the pipe when at least part of the end portion of the pipe is received into the housing. A retention member is movable relative to the housing for selectively connecting the fitting to the end portion of the pipe. The retention member is movable to press at least part of the end portion of the pipe radially against at least part of the insert member to help secure the fitting to the end portion of the pipe when the end portion of the pipe is received into the housing.

A fitting connectable to an end portion of a pipe generally includes a housing configured for receiving at least part of the end portion of the pipe into the housing, and an insert member disposed at least partly within the housing. The insert member is configured to be received at least partly within the end portion of the pipe when at least part of the end portion of the pipe is received into the housing. A retention member is movable relative to the housing for selectively connecting the fitting to the end portion of the pipe. The retention member is movable to press at least part of the end portion of the pipe against at least part of the insert member to help secure the fitting to the end portion of the pipe when the end portion of the pipe is received into the housing.

An electrical connector and method of making an electrical connection wherein the connector includes a housing having an upper portion and a lower portion rotatable relative to each other, a chamber, a cavity configured to receive a first wire, and a first conductive member positioned within the chamber. The first conductive member is configured to extend into the cavity and establish electrical contact with a conductor of the first wire upon rotation of the upper housing portion relative to the lower housing portion. A second conductive member can be electrically coupled to a conductor of a second wire. The second conductive member is also electrically coupled to the first conductive member such that electrical conductivity can thus be established between the conductor of the first wire and the conductor of the second wire.
