A toolless environmental splice enclosure capable of fitting within an aerial splice case is disclosed. The environmental closure permits sealing and reentry to a cable splice region.

This invention provides a foam barrier which prevents substantial migration of plasticizer from a plasticized polymeric article, such as a PVC cable jacket, into a gel sealing material in contact with the article and prevents substantial migration of oil from the gel material into the article while not significantly interfering with the sealing contact between the gel material and the surface of the article.

A cable end seal and a closure which includes the cable end seal provides a barrier for a junction against water, the junction being in a cable. First and second end seals are disposed adjacent opposite sides of the junction and palced in compression around the cable, the end seals having an outer convoluted surface which mate with a variable length convoluted tubing bridging member so as to form an environmental closure for the junction.
