A method which allows standard telephone users to audio conference with video conferencing participants over IP networks in a private secure environment. A dial-out is performed from one or more conference client terminals bridging audio between the Internet and the PSTN networks. The process uses a mixed mode hybrid network architecture for call set-up, initialization and teardown including the method to mix audio at the desktop terminal instead of in a general purpose server as in the prior art. The method conferences video and audio between multiple clients and include audio from a standard telephone network within the conference. A virtual private network connects all of the IP clients together including the voice over IP server used to transcode the proprietary audio into the H.323 standard for transport into the telephony network.

Media based collaboration using mixed-mode PSTN and internet networks

A method and apparatus for defect detection through color-filter channels is provided. The present invention includes an electronic scanner or similar device having a multilinear imager, a computer, and software that implements all the color channels of the multilinear imager to collect IR information in order to detect defects on a physical medium. The present invention implements methods to increase IR gathering speed and/or increase the clarity of captured images on multilinear-imager devices. These improvements are accomplished by capturing infrared (IR) light through each color-filter channel such that image defects such as dust and scratches are removed. In one embodiment of the present invention, IR information is collected from each color channel at different scan positions in either a one-pass or a two-pass scanning system. In another embodiment of the present invention, each RGB color channel is used to collect both image and detect information at every scan line, again, either a one-pass or a two-pass scanning system.

Method and system for multi-sensor signal detection

A system and method for correcting defects in an image. A correction area surrounding the defective pixel is dynamically chosen to include a predetermined percentage of non-defective pixels. The percentage is varied as a function of the size of the surrounding region, such that the percentage decreases as the size of the region increases. The shape of the surrounding area may be varied to further enhance the correction procedure. A center of gravity is maintained around the defective pixel by defining subregions surrounding the pixel.

System and method for correcting defects in digital images through selective fill-in from surrounding areas

An image processing system is disclosed. The system includes a first light source operable to illuminate an image plane in a first direction and a second light source operable to illuminate the image plane from a second direction. Also included is a sensing device operable to detect light from the first and second light source that interacted with the image plane. A processor operable to receive information from the sensing device and determine an image and image defects is coupled to the sensing device.
