Techniques are described herein for tracking and analyzing musical activity (e.g., musical performances) captured by a music controller device. Data indicative of a musical performance by an individual is received. Metadata characterizing the musical data is generated. One or more analytics of the musical data is generated based, at least in part, on the metadata.

Technologies for tracking and analyzing musical activity

A system providing a music service platform includes a music controller device, a client device, and a server. The music controller device receives musical data indicative of a music performance by an individual and generates metadata characterizing the musical data. The client device includes a software application that receives the musical data and the metadata from the music controller device and presents a graphical user interface for display on the client device. The graphical user interface includes information related to the musical data and the metadata. The server receives the musical data and the metadata, generates one or more analytics associated with the musical data, and performs one or more data aggregation techniques on the musical data.

Musical activity system

Techniques are described herein for generating a music fingerprint representative of a performance style of an individual. One or more characteristics associated with musical data are identified. A score to associated with each of the identified one or more characteristics is determined. The music fingerprint is generated based on the determine score for each of the identified one or more characteristics.

Technologies for generating a musical fingerprint

An automated player for stringed instruments having a plucking mechanism and a fretting mechanism. The plucking mechanism includes a string contacting portion rotationally mounted relative to a corresponding instrument string with a rotational axis substantially perpendicular to the string, a first drive member for creating relative motion between the string and the string contacting portion. The fretting mechanism includes a carriage in depressive contact with the instrument string and a second drive member selectively positioning the carriage creating relative movement between the carriage and the string. The plucking mechanism and the fretting mechanism are attached to a frame which is attached to the instrument. The player includes an electronic control circuit that controls operation of the plucking and fretting mechanisms.

Automated stringed instrument player

An automated player for stringed instruments having a body portion including independent plucking and fretting mechanisms. The plucking mechanism includes a rotary plectrum assembly having a plurality of extendable quills positioned with its rotational axis parallel to a string of the instrument. The plectrum assembly is selectively rotatable by a first stepper motor and the quills are selectively extendable by an electric solenoid actuator, thus allowing for variable displacement of the string to produce vibration of variable intensity during operation. The fretting mechanism includes a carriage mounted to a belt and selectively driven by a second stepper motor along a track parallel to the instrument string. The carriage is in compressive contact with the string and thus may be selectively positioned at appropriate frets to shorten the vibrating length of the string. The player includes an embedded electronic circuit that controls the operation from programs installed or serially downloaded.
