An enclosure for telecommunication cables includes a body that defines an interior of the enclosure, a grounding base secured relative to the body, and at least one strain relief assembly having a strain relief member and grounding member that are jointly coupled to the grounding base. Related methods of installing enclosures are also disclosed.

Devices and methods by which an effective shunt-type electrical connection between the telephone company lines and subscriber wiring can be established and maintained within a line module. Line modules are described having a jack assemblies with improved arrangements for establishing connections between telco and bridging contacts. In one construction, two contacts are selectively moveable along a pair of channels to be brought into contact with fixed contacts to form an electrical connection between the telephone company and subscriber wiring. In an alternative construction, the fixed contacts are replaced with a contact plate formed of conductive plating. In other aspects, a plug member can be inserted into the jack receptacle to close the tip and ring contacts to create a shunt connection when the cover of the module is closed onto the base. The plug member can be made entirely from non-conductive material. Additionally, when the cover is closed, the two moveable contacts are maintained a suitable distance from one another, to reduce the possibility of arcing.

Disclosed is a network interface unit which includes customer bridges and an array of circuits such as maintenance termination units (MTUs). The MTUs are provided on printed circuit boards, each including a male and female connector. Each board is inserted in between posts in the unit housing so that the female connectors plug into a mother board at the bottom. Jack wires are plugged into the male connectors and extend to the customer bridge portion of the unit.

Network interface unit

An electrical jack having a jack door biased so as to block the opening of a passage within the jack housing when the jack is not in use and which unblocks the passage in response to insertion of a plug within the passage. The jack door may contain slots for slideably receiving electrical contacts embedded in a dielectric body within the housing. When a plug is inserted the electrical contacts engage electrically with the plug. Upon removal of the plug the jack door is urged to reblock the passage.

A telephone network interface device adapted for limited access by telephone subscribers comprising a base on which there is a first and second set of terminals, the first set of terminals are adapted to be connected to the portion of a telephone subscriber loop not owned by the subscriber and the second set of terminals are adapted to be connected to the subscribers' premise wiring; a first jack (a first dielectric carrier and jack top housing), the first dielectric carrier having electrical contacts adapted to be mechanically and electrically engaged and disengaged with a plug; a second jack (a second dielectric carrier and jack top housing) and a plug both the plug and second dielectric carrier having electrical contacts therein adapted to be mechanically and electrically engaged and disengaged with one another; an electrical conductor electrically connecting the plug to the second set of terminals, an electrical conductor electrically connecting the first dielectric carrier to the second set of terminals, and an electrical conductor connecting the second dielectric carrier to the first set of terminals; a wall disposed between the first and second set of terminals; and, a shield covering the first but not the second set of terminals. A portion of the base is removably engaged, the removable portion containing affixed thereto the second set of terminals, the electrical conductor connecting the first dielectric carrier to the second set of terminals, the plug and the electrical conductor connecting the plug to the second set of terminals.

Indoor type telephone network interface device

A telephone network device adapted to be used in the subscriber loop of telephone transmission system, i.e., connected to a non-telephone owned premise wiring (a household) and a telephone company owned portion of such loop at the junction where the two connect one to another. The device is a limited access device, i.e., only a portion of the device is easily accessible by non-telephone employees, and such a condition is achieved by the structure of the device which is basically an open top base containing first and second sets of terminals; a dielectric carrier and a plug both having electrical contacts therein and both adapted to be mechanically and electrically engaged and disengaged with one another; means for electrically connecting the plug to said second set of terminals and means for electrically connecting dielectric carrier to said first set of terminals; a wall means disposed between said first and second set of terminals dividing said base into first and second cavities; and, a shield means covering said first but not said second set of terminals, the first set being adapted to be connected to telephone company owned portion of subscriber loop and the second set of terminals be adapted to be connected to the subscriber owned premise wiring; the shield means acting in concert with the base to enclose the set of terminals adapted to be connected to telephone company owned portion of the subscriber loop and exposing those terminals which are adapted to be connected to the subscriber premise wiring.

A telephone jack composed of three basic elements: an open top cylindrically shaped cover means; a cylindrically shaped jack housing containing a jack, the jack housing being coaxially received in and rotatably engaged with the cover means; and a biasing means, one portion of which is in engagement with the cover means and another portion in engagement with the jack housing.
