A wireless communication apparatus that comprises a wireless device and a wireless headset is described. Additionally, a method for controlling the operations of a wireless communications apparatus is also described. The wireless device is configured to communicate with at least one remote base station using at least one communication standard. The wireless device is configured to perform at least one local application by locally processing computer instructions. The wireless headset is communicatively coupled to the wireless device and comprises a headset communications module, a headset selection means, and a headset display. The headset wireless communications module is configured to wirelessly communicate with the wireless device. The headset scrolling wheel is configured to control the local application on the wireless device from the headset. The headset display is configured to present a synchronized output that is synchronized with the local application that is executed on the wireless device.

A stringed instrument wireless communication device includes a wireless communication device housing including a front; graphical elements on the front corresponding to data to be input into the wireless communication device; and a stringed instrument keypad including a plurality of frets extending along the front of the wireless communication device housing and a plurality of strings extending substantially perpendicular to and above the plurality of frets. The graphical elements are respectively disposed on the front between frets and adjacent to the strings, and the stringed instrument keypad is configured to input data corresponding to a pressed string and a graphical element adjacent to the pressed string.

A portable communication device has a modular inner chassis containing a main printed circuit board and an outer housing for releasable engagement over the inner chassis so as to substantially completely enclose and conceal the inner chassis. The outer housing has at least two parts. A first part of the outer housing contains a keypad and a separate keypad printed circuit board for connection with a keypad connector on the main printed circuit board when the housing is engaged over the inner chassis. The outer housing and inner chassis have releasable interengaging formations for releasably securing the first and second parts of the outer housing over the inner chassis.

An antenna with a loop portion that arches away from the body of the mobile wireless communication device. The loop portion is connected to the mobile wireless communication device at one end and detachably connected or grounded to the mobile wireless communication device at the other end. An antenna that arches away from the body of a phone, but connects at both ends to the body of the phone has improved performance over an internal antenna, and yet retains the advantages of an internal antenna. Further, if the antenna is detachably connected to the phone at one end, then either better performance can be achieved if the antenna can be moved further away from the body of the phone, or the antenna can be used as a latch to attach the phone to slender objects.

Mobile wireless communication device antenna systems and methods

An antenna grounding connection system is provided for wireless communication devices with two or more ground plane sections. A distance is maintained between an antenna feed and an electrical connection between the two ground plane sections. The distance is determined by the wavelength of the wireless communication signal. The distance should be at least one fifteenth of the wavelength of the wireless communication signal. In the case of a rectangular ground plane section, an antenna feed can be placed near one edge of the first ground plane section, and the electrical connection can be placed near an opposite edge of the first ground plane section.
