A system includes a gas turbine engine, including a compressor, a combustor, and a turbine. The system includes an intercooler configured to receive a discharge air from the compressor and to cool the discharge air. The system includes a first conduit to divert a portion of the cooled discharge air from the intercooler or a location downstream of the intercooler to a bearing located within the turbine to pressurize the bearing to block leakage of fluid from the bearing.

System and method for use of intercooler cooled fluid as bearing pressurization fluid source

A system for cooling a load coupling coupled to a gas turbine and disposed within an exhaust housing is provided. The system includes a shroud configured to be mounted about the load coupling, the shroud defining an inlet passage between the shroud and the load coupling and an outlet passage between the exhaust housing and the shroud. The system also includes a set of blades configured to couple to the load coupling. The set of blades are angled to draw air into the inlet passage as the set of blades rotate with the load coupling.

Turbine load coupling cooling system

One or more cooling systems for ventilating a turbine and rotary shaft of a gas turbine system is provided. The gas turbine system includes a gas turbine engine and a turbine exhaust collector in separate enclosures. A first cooling system includes an educator that sucks exhaust gas through a diffuser and directs it out of the turbine exhaust collector enclosure based on suction pressure created from the high velocity of exhaust gas. A second cooling system include struts that enable the exhaust gas to flow from the diffusers to a ventilation flow stack. A third cooling system includes exhaust gas sucked from an opening to a top duct based on suction pressure created from the rotation of the rotary shaft disposed about a coupling. A guideway associated with the third cooling system also directs the exhaust gas to flow to the top duct.

System for cooling turbine shaft coupling

A vapor separation system including a cooler having an inlet configured to receive an air-oil-water mixture, and an outlet configured to discharge separated oil and water in two different phases of matter. A first sensor is at the outlet of the cooler. A controller is communicatively coupled to the cooler, wherein the controller is configured to receive temperature feedback from the first sensor, and increase or reduce the amount of cooling, with the cooler and based on the temperature feedback, the oil-water mixture to a separation temperature configured to liquefy at least a portion of the oil in the air-oil-water mixture, while maintaining at least a portion of the water in the air-oil-water mixture in a vaporized state.

Vapor separation systems and methods

One or more cooling systems for ventilating a turbine and rotary shaft of a gas turbine system is provided. The gas turbine system includes a gas turbine engine and a turbine exhaust collector in separate enclosures. A first cooling system includes an educator that sucks exhaust gas through a diffuser and directs it out of the turbine exhaust collector enclosure based on suction pressure created from the high velocity of exhaust gas. A second cooling system include struts that enable the exhaust gas to flow from the diffusers to a ventilation flow stack. A third cooling system includes exhaust gas sucked from an opening to a top duct based on suction pressure created from the rotation of the rotary shaft disposed about a coupling. A guideway associated with the third cooling system also directs the exhaust gas to flow to the top duct. These cooling systems are designed to increase the efficiency of ventilating the turbine and rotary shaft, prevent misalignments of the rotary shaft, which may result in thermal stresses, and allow the use of the gas turbine systems in higher ambient temperature environments.

A flow combiner is provided for a gas turbine engine. The flow combiner includes an outlet duct, a compressor bleed inlet duct coupled to the outlet duct, and a ventilation inlet duct coupled to the outlet duct. The compressor bleed inlet duct is configured to receive a bleed flow from a compressor of the gas turbine engine. The ventilation inlet duct is configured to receive a ventilation flow from an enclosure surrounding the gas turbine engine. The bleed flow and the ventilation flow are combined as an outlet flow through the outlet duct.

A system includes a clutchless synchronous condensing coupling configured to couple a turbine shaft of a gas turbine system to a generator shaft of a synchronous generator of a power generation system. The clutchless synchronous condensing coupling includes a first coupling portion configured to couple to the turbine shaft, and a second coupling portion configured to couple to the generator shaft. The clutchless synchronous condensing coupling is configured to allow the power generation system to operate in an active power mode and a reactive power mode without a clutch assembly.

The present application provides a power generation system. The power generation system may include a core turbine positioned about a core rotor shaft, a power turbine positioned about a power rotor shaft, a synchronous generator including a generator rotor shaft coupled to the power rotor shaft for rotation therewith, and an electronic controller in operable communication with the synchronous generator. The synchronous generator may be configured to generate reactive power for or absorb reactive power from an electric power grid when the power generation system operates in a reactive power mode. The electronic controller may be operable to cause the core rotor shaft to rotate when the power generation system operates in the reactive power mode.

Embodiments of the present disclosure are directed toward a system and method to drain a fuel manifold wherein a fuel drainage and purge system includes a fuel manifold and a drainage line extending from the fuel manifold. The drainage line is configured to flow a liquid-gas mixture from the fuel manifold. The fuel drainage and purge system also includes a drain valve disposed along the drainage line, a vent line extending from the drainage line upstream of the drain valve, a vent valve disposed along the vent line, and a drainage trap arranged along the drainage line downstream of the drain valve. The drainage trap is configured to separate the liquid-gas mixture into a liquid stream and a gaseous stream.

Fuel drainage and purge system and method

A system includes a gas turbine system that has a turbine, a combustor, and a compressor having an air intake. The air intake is configured to supply an air flow to the compressor. The system also includes a fluid injection system that has a fluid wash system configured to inject a wash fluid into the gas turbine system via the air intake. The fluid wash system includes an injector configured to inject the wash fluid into the gas turbine system and an anti-icing system configured to inject an anti-icing fluid into the gas turbine system via the air intake. The anti-icing system is configured to inject the anti-icing fluid into the gas turbine system via the injector.

The complete outdoor radio unit for LMDS is a light weight, compact transceiver featuring planar circuitry. The transceiver uses cross polarization through an orthomodal transducer and frequency offset between transmit and receive to provide isolation between the transmitter and receiver. The transceiver includes three printed circuit boards directly attached by thermally conductive epoxy to a heat sink which forms part of the antenna dish/transceiver housing for effective heat transfer. Two of the waveguides are used as receiver and transmitter transmission lines into the orthomodal transducer, and two of the waveguides are used as bandpass filters. The transceiver also includes a DC&mdash;DC converter in the power supply which is modified to connect the base plate to the heat sink for compactness and improved heat transfer, and a frequency synthesizer with a phase locked loop hardwired to a single reference frequency for compact size.

A trailer mounts a turbine and a generator for transport to a power generation site. The mount for the turbine includes a sub-base mounted for pivotal movement adjacent a rear end thereof proximate the forward end of the generator. The forward end of the sub-base is secured to the trailer by an isolator mount. The two mounts constitute a 3-point mounting system for the sub-base and turbine carried thereby whereby during transport, the sub-base and turbine are enabled for limited angular deflection of the turbine axis relative to the generator rotor axis. The pivotal mounting adjacent the interconnection between the turbine and generator rotors lies along discrete opposite sides of the trailer. Torque is transmitted from the turbine to the generator base through the pivotal mountings. At the power generation site, the sub-base is locked down and minimal adjustment is required to align the turbine and generator rotors.
