Sigma-delta analogue to digital converter

A multi-cell battery apparatus is provided, according to certain aspects, including a battery with a plurality of voltage-stacked battery cell circuits, a switchable resistive-divider circuit and a control circuit. The control circuit selectively activates the switchable resistive-divider circuits and, in response to the respective switchable resistive-divider circuits being selectively activated, the control circuit measures the controlled-load voltage drops. These aspects are used to allow open load detection without interfering with the cell balancing mechanism and the accuracy of the redundant measurements performed on these pins in a battery management system.

Systems and methods involving measurement of battery cells

A sigma-delta ADC comprising: a first-input-terminal configured to receive a first-high-voltage-analogue-input-signal; a second-input-terminal configured to receive a second-high-voltage-analogue-input-signal; an output-terminal configured to provide an output-digital-signal, wherein the output-digital-signal is representative of the difference between the first-high-voltage-analogue-input-signal and the second-high-voltage-analogue-input-signal. The sigma-delta ADC also includes a feedback-current-block, which comprises: a first-feedback-transistor having a conduction channel; a second-feedback-transistor having a conduction channel; a first-feedback-switch; a second-feedback-switch; a first-feedback-current-source; and a second-feedback-current-source.

A system includes a capacitive transducer, an excitation circuit, and a measuring circuit. The excitation circuit is configured to excite the capacitive transducer and the measuring circuit measures an output signal from the capacitive transducer responsive to the excitation voltage. The excitation circuit includes a voltage source for providing a first voltage in response to receipt of a supply voltage, a voltage generator coupled to the voltage source for receiving the first voltage and generating a second voltage that is greater than the supply voltage, and a control circuit coupled to the voltage source and the voltage generator. The control circuit is configured to provide any of a system ground, the first voltage, and the second voltage to first and second terminals of the capacitive transducer, and particularly, being configured to apply the system ground and the second voltage in the form of two consecutive stimuli with opposite polarities.

A system is provided that includes a mechanical resonator, and an analog circuit coupled to the mechanical resonator. The analog circuit is arranged to receive a mechanical resonator measurement signal having a quadrature error from the mechanical resonator, and to extract a quadrature error signal from the mechanical resonator measurement signal using a quadrature clock. A digital quadrature controller is coupled to the analog circuit and is arranged to generate a quadrature error compensation signal from the extracted quadrature error signal and apply the quadrature error compensation signal to the mechanical resonator or the mechanical resonator measurement signal to reduce quadrature error in the mechanical resonator measurement signal error.

A microelectromechanical device comprising a mass, an electromechanical transducer configured to convert, after damping the mass during a first damping period, displacement of the mass in the first and second directions into corresponding first and second electrical signals during corresponding first and second conversion time periods, a derivative unit configured to generate first and second control signals indicative of the velocity of the mass in the first and second direction, and a controller for providing the first and second control signals to respective first and second one or more electrodes of the electromechanical transducer for simultaneously damping the mass in the first and second directions with a first and second damping forces corresponding to the first and second velocity during the damping time period.

Microelectromechanical device and a method of damping a mass thereof

MEMS gyroscopes are often integrated in modern electronic products for measuring orientation or rotation in those products. However, these MEMS gyroscopes are often inaccurate. The invention provides a compensation circuit to compensate for errors causing a distortion of a measured Coriolis force. The compensation circuit demodulates an input signal provided by the MEMS gyroscope to produce a quadrature signal indicative of the quadrature error and provides a compensation signal to the MEMS gyroscope for actively compensating the quadrature error.

A circuit comprises an amplifier, a first switch arranged between an amplifier input and an amplifier output, a first capacitor, a first resistor, a second switch, a third switch, a first converter coupled to the first amplifier output, a register storing a last digital value, a second converter converting the stored last digital value into a corresponding voltage value, and a control circuit. The control circuit charges the first capacitor to the corresponding voltage value by coupling a second converter output to a second capacitor terminal and switching on the first switch, or by coupling the second converter output to the first capacitor terminal and switching on the third switch; switches on the first switch and the second switch for providing the input voltage signal to the first capacitor; and switches on the third switch for determining a subsequent digital value of the converted output amplifier signal.
