An eyeglass managing system determines process parameters for manufacturing at least part of an eyeglass including a lens and a frame. In this eyeglass managing system, an electronic system includes: —a receiving unit adapted to acquire lens data describing an initial lens and frame data describing an initial frame; —a processing unit adapted to identify, based on the lens data and on the frame data, modification parameters deriving from the interaction between the initial lens and the initial frame; and—a transmitting unit adapted to transmit a list of proposed modifications based on the identified modification parameters. The receiving unit is further adapted to acquire a response to at least one proposed modification; the processing unit is further adapted to determine, based on the acquired response, process parameters of an additive manufacturing process for manufacturing the lens or the frame.

A method includes: providing lens blank data relating to the first, second and peripheral blank surfaces of the lens blank; providing optical lens data relating to the first, second and peripheral optical surfaces of the optical lens; virtually positioning the optical lens in the lens blank in a position so that at least one of the first optical surface or the second optical surface is included within the lens blank; evaluating a manufacturing prism cost function, the machining prism cost function corresponding to a weighed sum of the first manufacturing prism to be used when blocking the lens blank on the second surface to machine the first optical surface and of the second manufacturing prism to be used when blocking the lens blank on the first optical surface to machine the second optical surface. Method for determining a position of an optical lens member placed on a lens blocking ring (). A reference system, blocking ring data, and optical lens member surface data are provided. Position parameters are provided defining a position of a reference point of the surface of the lens member with respect to the main plane of the reference system and an orientation, about the main axis of said placed surface at said reference point. The position of the placed surface is determined according to the position parameters. During a repositioning step (S) the placed surface is virtually translated and rotated. During an altitude determination step (S) a difference in position between the blocking ring and the placed surface is determined. The repositioning and altitude determining steps (S, S) are repeated so as to minimize the difference in position between the blocking ring and the placed surface.

Toric ophthalmic lenses

The invention concerns a set of progressive multifocal opthalmic lenses, each having a first progressive multifocal surface and a second surface preferably spherical. It proposes to define the set of lenses with regard to the optical characteristics of the lenses, and particularly wearer power and oblique astigmatism, in worn conditions. For this purpose, the invention defines an ergorama associating with each sight direction in worn conditions a target object point, and a given power. This ergorama supplies a power target for a definition by optimisation of the lenses, and is used in a radii plotting programme for calculating the optical characteristics during optimisation. The set of lenses has substantially identical optical performances for a given addition, whatever the power of the far vision reference point.

Set of progressive multifocal ophthalmic lenses

In a multifocal ophthalmic lens comprising an aspherical surface having at every point thereon a mean sphere and a cylinder, a far vision region, a near vision region, and an intermediate vision region, the length of progression i.e. the length over which lens power varies by a set amount in different regions of the lens, is short. To avoid distortion at the periphery of the lens which this would otherwise occasion, the isosphere and isocylinder lines are distributed over the surface of the lens so as to ensure variations in sphere are not too sudden along a 20 mm radius circle centered on the geometric center of the lens and variations in cylinder on the surface of the lens inside this circle are also very small. The lens has an enlarged near vision region and progression is less perceptible to the wearer.

Multifocal ophthalmic lens

In a progressive multifocal ophthalmic lens providing excellent performance in the far vision region, good width of the near vision region and gentle progression in the intermediate vision region therebetween, the far vision region comprises an angular sector defined by two half-lines that intersect at the geometrical center of the lens forming an upwardly-directed angular segment with an included angle of preferably more than 145.degree. in which all points have a cylinder less than A/2 diopters, and constraints are applied governing the gentleness of progression in the intermediate vision region and the relative width of the near vision region.
