A chair (), in particular a swivel office chair, is provided with a bottom chair part () having a column (), a seat support () held on the bottom chair part (), a seat () connected pivotably to the support, and a backrest support () holding a backrest () and connected pivotably to the seat support (). The movement of the seat () is coupled with the movement of the backrest support () by a synchronizing mechanism having at least one spring () and coupling elements. The invention concerns a seat ( ) with a seat support ( ) which has a seating surface ( ) as well as a backrest ( ) connected pivotable with it, which seating surface ( ) and backrest ( ) are mounted adjustably and fixably on a seat bracket ( ) for adjusting the position of the seat support ( ). For the seat ( ) of the invention, it is characteristic that back inclination of the backrest ( ) is adjustable in connection with a fixed seating angle (&agr;) between backrest ( ) and seating surface ( ) by pivoting the seat support ( ) relative to the seat bracket ( ), and that the seating angle of the seating surface ( ) is adjustable in connection with a pivotal point ( ) fixed in the longitudinal direction of the seat by pivoting the seating surface ( ) relative to the backrest ( ). The seat ( ) of the invention is distinguished by a comparatively short adjustment pathway through a large back inclination adjustment of the backrest ( ).

The invention concerns a seat ( ) with at least one seat base part ( ) and at least one backrest part ( ) which seat is supported on a seat carrier ( ) and is movable in relation to said carrier by positioning drive ( ). Considering one of possibly multiple seats ( ) it is of advantage, that the positioning drive ( ), is in controlling connection with at least one body position sensor ( ) to enable the advancing or retracting of a seat base part ( ) and/or a backrest part ( ) in accord with the bodily position assumed by a person on said seat ( ), or, for the retraction of the seat base part ( ) and or backrest part ( ) in accord with a bodily movement of a person on the seat ( ). In this arrangement, the seat base part ( ) and/or the backrest part ( ), are movably guided in an enforced guidance and pivotally connected to one another by a pivot connection ( ), and in addition the seat base part ( ) and the backrest part ( ) are guided, at a prescribed distance from the pivot connection ( ), and can rotate about their guide axes or guide pins ( ). This seat ( ) is especially comfortable and simple to manipulate and offers an ergonomically favorable arrangement in any adjustment position for the user, because of the enforced guidance system, and the linkage ( ) in connection with seat base part and backrest part.
