A radar wave imaging device includes a radar transmitter unit having at least one radar transmit antenna for transmitting radar waves towards a scene and a radar receiving unit including a plurality of radar receiver members that are arranged as a two-dimensional array, for receiving reflected radar waves. The radar receiving unit includes an imaging radar optics unit for imaging at least a portion of a scene onto at least a portion of the two-dimensional array of radar receiver members. The imaging radar optics unit includes at least a first radar lens that is arranged between the radar receiver members and the scene. The radar receiver members are arranged in direct contact to a surface of the first radar lens that is facing away from the scene.

High-resolution 3D radar wave imaging device

A method for obtaining an adaptive angle-Doppler ambiguity function (AF) for a target using multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) radar that includes a transmit antenna array having a plurality of antenna elements. The method includes generating transmit signals for transmission by the transmit antenna array, the transmit signals defining at least a first transmit trajectory of a phase center within the transmit antenna array; transmitting the transmit signals using the transmit antenna array and receiving receive signals from the target, the receive signals resulting from the incidence of the transmit signals upon the target; and obtaining at least an angle-Doppler ambiguity function (AF) from the receive signals. The first transmit trajectory is such that, in operation, the phase center undergoes random phase center motion (PCM), such that a phase center position within the transmit antenna array varies randomly with time. A system for obtaining an AF is also disclosed.

Method and system for obtaining an adaptive angle-doppler ambiguity function in MIMO radars

A tunable dielectric metamaterial device for radar sensing comprises at least one metamaterial layer a plurality of electrically conductive electrodes and a plurality of electrically conductive control lines. The metamaterial layer includes a plurality of dielectric resonators comprising tunable material, wherein at least one electromagnetic property of the tunable material varies with an externally controllable electric field applied to it. Two distinct electrically conductive electrodes each are arranged in a spaced manner at any one of the dielectric resonators to cover the dielectric resonator. The electrically conductive control lines are configured for controlling the electric field to be applied to the tunable material, wherein each electrically conductive line is electrically connected to an electrically conductive electrode. For at least two dielectric resonators, the electrically conductive electrodes that are arranged in the same layer to cover the at least two dielectric resonators are distinct from each other.

Tunable dielectric metamaterial lens device for radar sensing

A method of orthogonal modulation of radar waves of a phase-modulated continuous wave radar system. The method includes selecting an equidistant bi-phased or multi-phased phase-modulation sequence, phase-modulating the continuous radar wave, and transmitting the orthogonal phase-modulated continuous radar wave towards a scene. The method includes generating a detection sequence (s) by applying an outer coding (H) to the phase-modulation sequence, selecting a communication range (C) in the complex number plane, based on the selected phase-modulation, generating a communication sequence (c) having a plurality of sequence members, mapping the communication sequence (c) into the communication range (C) by applying an injective mapping function (&#x393;) to the sequence members, and calculating a numerical product of members of the detection sequence (s) with members of an image of the mapped communication sequence (c). Phase-modulating the continuous wave of the radar system is carried out according to the calculated numerical products.
