An RFID tag system includes an antenna, an integrated circuit electrically connected to the antenna, and a humidity or gas indicator being electrically connected to the antenna and the integrated circuit. The humidity or gas indicator includes a first electrode, a second electrode, a dielectric material, and a gap between the first electrode and the second electrode. At least a portion of the gap contains the dielectric material. The dielectric material is configured to have a change in its dielectric constant responsive to exposure to an environmental stimulus, which may be at least one of humidity or the presence of a gas. The change in the dielectric constant of the dielectric material changes a capacitance of the humidity or gas indicator, causing the integrated circuit to indicate the presence of the environmental stimulus.

A temperature-activatable temperature indicator that includes a substrate and an indicator material supported by the substrate. The indicator material includes a mixture of a side-chain crystalline polymer and conductive particles and provides an electrical indication of exposure to increased temperature.

A temperature indicator includes a first capacitor configured to change capacitance when exposed to a temperature above a first threshold temperature, a second capacitor configured to change capacitance when exposed to a temperature above a second threshold temperature. The first capacitor is electrically connected to the second capacitor. The second threshold temperature is different than the first threshold temperature. The first capacitor and the second capacitor retain their changed capacitance permanently after they return to a temperature below their respective threshold temperature.

There is a method for lengthening keratin fibers. The method has the steps of a) applying to the keratin fibers a composition having a solvent and one or more polymers soluble or solubilizable in the solvent b) allowing the solvent to evaporate. The composition is applied in an amount sufficient to lengthen the keratin fibers. There are also other methods for lengthening keratin fibers. There is also a mascara composition.

Fluids are provided which resist phase separation by inclusion of a stabilizing amount of a glutamic acid derivative in the presence of ethanol. The fluids comprise an aqueous discontinuous phase, a silicone oil containing continuous phase, a glutamic acid derivative such as dibutyl ethylhexanoyl glutamide, and ethanol. The fluids may be prepared without heating to solubilize the glutamic acid derivative.

Compositions and methods are disclosed for stabilizing glycerin-in-oil emulsions, which can be used to significantly reduce thermal instability or instability over time compared to traditional cosmetics or topical formulations. Compositions and methods for the in situ formation of cross-linked polymeric filaments are disclosed. The disclosed filaments are preferably elastomeric, water-resistant, oil-resistant, long-wearing. The filament forming compositions generally comprise one or more cross-linkable polymers having at least one functional group capable of forming cross-links and a cross-linking agent, the presence of which promotes cross-linking of the polymers. The compositions may be used for lengthening and/or volumizing keratin fibers, for example, eyelashes.

A negative waterless plate contains a sheet substrate; a radiation sensitive imaging layer composed of a diazido naphthaquinone ester or amide compound, such as diazido naphthaquinone sulfonate of a phenolic resin, and a polyurethane prepared by reacting a di-isocyanate and a diol; and a silicone layer. The planographic printing plate is imagewise exposed to actinic radiation through a negative original to form exposed areas of the imaged layer which are soluble or dispersible in a developer liquid. After imaging exposure, the developer liquid is applied which penetrates the silicone layer and dissolves the areas exposed to the radiation. The coating areas not exposed by the radiation remain intact. During this development procedure, areas of the silicone layer overlying the exposed areas are removed along with the underlying soluble areas to produce an imaged planographic printing plate having uncovered ink receptive areas and complimentary ink repellent areas of the silicone layer. In use, the developed plate is mounted on a dry planographic printing press containing only a lithographic ink; and used to print a positive image on conventional print stock.

Presensitized lithographic plates are prepared which permit direct formation of printable images on plates by digital computerization without the intervening formation of a photographic image with a quality that allows the plates to be used for high volume printing applications. The lithographic printing plate has a structure which contains a substrate; a positive or negative working photosensitive layer; and a thermally sensitive masking layer which is opaque to the actinic radiation but which is soluble in an aqueous medium. The masking layer contains a heat softenable disperse phase which is insoluble in the aqueous medium; a polymeric continuous phase which is soluble or swellable in the aqueous medium; and a colorant which strongly absorbs radiant energy and converts the radiant energy to heat. In use the masking layer is digitally exposed to a computer controlled laser image so that exposed image areas of the masking are insolublized in the aqueous medium; soluble areas of the mask layer are then removed to form an opaque image mask on the photosensitive layer which is then exposed to actinic radiation passing through the mask to solubilize or insolubilize exposed areas of the photosensitive layer; the photosensitive layer is then developed with the developer liquid to remove the soluble areas and any overlying mask areas to form the lithographic printing plate. Both wet and waterless lithographic printing plates may be digitally prepared in this manner.

A waterless or driographic printing plate which can be thermally imaged by an infrared laser is composed of a substrate; a thermal imaging layer containing a photothermal conversion material, such as an infrared absorbing material, and a thermoplastic polyurethane with pendent allyl groups; and a crosslinked silicone polymer top layer. It was discovered that when the imaging layer contains an allyl functional polyurethane mixed with an infrared absorbing dye or pigment, the polymeric layer will have enhanced solubility in certain solvents when exposed to infrared radiation. In addition, the polymeric layer continues to exhibit excellent adhesion to the silicone in unexposed areas so that the infrared absorbing layer can endure development with a suitable organic solvent, or a solvent mixture. Mild brushing or rubbing with the developing solvent readily removes laser-struck portions of the infrared imaging layer while unexposed areas remain firmly intact.
