Odor control product dispenser cabinet

Odor control product dispenser includes a cabinet having a removable front cover for directly accessing both an upper fan compartment and a lower product compartment from the front. A fan in the fan compartment draws air in through a fan shroud surrounding the fan and directs the air downwardly into the product compartment for flow across an exposed surface of the odor control product in the second compartment and subsequent discharge through air vents in the front and sides of the cabinet. The odor control product is contained in a well in one end of a disposable container. Within the well are a plurality of circumferentially spaced pinwheel type baffles that increase the turbulence of the air flowing across the product as the product evaporates to accelerate the rate of evaporation as the product loses its potency (effectiveness) with age. Also, the product shrinks away from the baffles to increase the surface area of the product exposed to the air and thus the rate of evaporation of the product as the effectiveness of the product diminishes. In the end of the container opposite the well is a battery compartment containing a battery which provides the power source for driving the fan motor. Cooperating surfaces on the container and dispenser cabinet properly orient the battery within the product compartment and maintain the battery terminals in contact with motor contact strips in the second compartment.

A flexible duster head holder includes a stiffener over which a conventional duster head is placed. The stiffener may be bent to conform to the shape of a non-flat surface to be dusted. The stiffener consists of a bendable metal wire core which is sufficiently rigid to hold the shape to which it is bent until being bent to a different shape. Surrounding the core is a resilient vinyl sheath or cover which limits the sharpness of any bend that can be imparted to the stiffener, thereby reducing the likelihood that the wire core will break. Two different methods are described for attaching the stiffener to a clamp assembly. In one, the stiffener is inserted into passages in a mounting block and glued in place; in the other, the stiffener extends all the way through passages in the mounting block, and exposed ends of the wire core are folded over into a U-shape such that the stiffener cannot be withdrawn from the mounting block when the mounting block is secured to the clamp assembly by being received between the arms of a clevis and riveted in place.

Pad holder includes a generally flat rectangular mounting plate or head having a front or bottom side to which the pad is attached and a top or back side having a plurality of spaced-apart ribs thereon terminating in a common plane substantially parallel to the planar bottom side of the mounting plate to provide for the transfer of pressure from the wringer plates of a conventional mop wringer to the pad through the ribs to squeeze out the pad. The ribs provide for the recess mounting of a hinge member to the back side of the mounting plate. The hinge member permits a handle socket connected thereto to be pivoted up against the back side of the mounting plate below the tops of the ribs where it will not interfere with the pressure engagement of the wringer plates with the ribs and pad, respectively, during wringing out of the pad. The ribs are preferably open or slotted at least at one end thereof to permit water to flow freely between the ribs and back into a mop bucket or the like as the pad is being wrung out.

Mop swab includes a threaded center stud supported by a support strip which extends transversely of the mop head and has mop cords covering both the side edges and ends of the support strip. The center stud is located in the approximate center of the length of the support strip, and the ends of the support strip extend in opposite directions beyond the center stud for a substantial portion of the width of the mop head to provide adequate support therefor. The support strip is secured in place intermediate the mop cords by a tape headband which is wrapped around the mop cords and support strip therebetween and stitched to the mop cords by a plurality of rows of stitching extending entirely through the headband and mop cords adjacent the opposite side edges and ends of the support strip.

Mop holder includes a main frame portion having a loading bar cantilevered at one end to the main frame portion and a hinged side gate at the other end which can be lifted up to permit a mop swab to be slid on or off the loading bar at such other end. A clamping bar movable toward and away from the loading bar releasably clamps the mop swab tightly against the loading bar.

Handle includes a main handle portion and an outer end portion pivotally connected thereto. Both the main handle portion and outer end portion have connecting members extending from the adjacent ends thereof, with offset flanges thereon in overlapping engagement with each other and connected together by a bolt and nut arrangement. The opposed faces of such offset flanges have radially extending teeth in mating engagement with each other positively to retain the outer end portion in any desired adjusted position from straight out in line with the main handle portion to approximately 90.degree. in either direction or anywhere in between upon loosening and retightening the nut.

Pivot handle for dust mops and the like

A bowl mop for use in cleaning toilet bowls and the like including a disposable yarn head having a slide portion slidably received in a slot on a projecting end portion of a handle. The slide is releasably retained within the slot as by engagement of a cam projection on the slide in a recess in the handle end portion to permit the disposable yarn head to be snapped off for easy disposal and replaced with a replacement head. The handle end portion extends at an angle relative to the longitudinal axis of the handle to facilitate cleaning of difficult to reach areas. Also, the handle is adjustable to different lengths for safer, faster cleaning with less bending and stooping and less operator fatigue.

Bowl mop

A duster head characterized by a central sleeve portion made from a strip of open mesh backing material, and a plurality of spaced apart longitudinally extending rows of yarn fringe material stitched thereto. To make the duster head, initially two inside rows of the fringe material are stitched to one side of a flat strip of the mesh backing in spaced relation from each other and from the edges of the backing before the backing is formed into the desired cylindrical shape. Both inside rows may extend almost the entire length of the backing material, terminating a short distance from each end thereof. However, preferably one of the inside rows is continued to the adjacent side edge of the backing near the upper end thereof to ensure more complete coverage of the backing by the fringe material in that region. The bottom raw edge of the backing is then serged to give it added strength. Next the mesh backing is folded along the middle intermediate the two inside rows of fringe material and back against itself along the entire length thereof and stitched together along the free edges and across one end to form such central sleeve portion closed at such one end and open at the other end. Then two outside rows of fringe material are stitched to the mesh backing on opposite sides thereof, one along the fold on one side of the mesh backing, and the other along the stitched edges on the opposite side of the mesh backing. The outside row of fringe material on the side opposite the inside row which is continued to the adjacent side edge of the backing is also desirably continued across the closed end of the central sleeve portion. A strip of fabric tape may also be stitched to the central sleeve portion along with one of the outside rows of fringe material adjacent the open end of the central sleeve portion to facilitate tying of the duster head to a mop handle.

Duster head and method of making same

Extension handle consists of a pair of telescoping handle parts made out of relatively thin-walled plastic tubing. A protrusion on the outer wall of the inner tubular member, formed as by inserting a pop rivet therethrough, frictionally engages the inner wall of the outer tubular member to provide some drag or resistance to axial movement of the tubular members relative to each other. The outer tubular member, being made of relatively thin-walled plastic tubing, will deform more or less according to the amount of interference between the rivet and inner wall of the outer tubular member. A rigid metal or plastic ring at the inner end of the outer tubular member acts as an abutment or stop for the protrusion on the inner tubular member thus preventing the telescoping handle parts from being completely pulled apart.
