The present disclosure relates to devices, systems, and methods for improving or optimizing peripheral vision. In particular, various IOL designs, as well as IOL implantation locations, are disclosed which improve or optimize peripheral vision.

Ophthalmic devices, system and methods that improve peripheral vision

An implantable glaucoma shunt for treating glaucoma in an eye is disclosed herein. The glaucoma shunt may comprise a plurality of strips adapted to be positioned on a sclera of the eye and an elastomeric drainage tube having an outflow end connected to the plurality of strips and an opening thereof. The drainage tube may have an open lumen and a length sufficient to extend into the anterior chamber of the eye. The plurality of strips may be substantially parallel with one another or the plurality of strips may diverge from one another. In an embodiment, the disclosed glaucoma shunt may be manufactured by removing material from a prior-art type glaucoma shunt. The disclosed glaucoma shunt may be inserted via an insertion tool.

Bleb control glaucoma shunts

A lens including a posterior surface, an anterior surface, and at least one identification marking on the lens. The at least one identification marking exhibits a first degree of visibility in an ambient lighting condition and a second degree of visibility greater than the first degree of visibility in a lighting condition different than the ambient lighting condition.

Lenses with optical markings

Intraocular lenses for reducing the risk of posterior capsule opacification (PCO) are described herein. PCO can be reduced with an IOL design that increases the pressure at the posterior capsular bend, for example, by including a sharper edge design, an enlarged optical zone, and/or an increased vault height. An example ophthalmic lens can include an optic () including an anterior surface () defining an anterior side of the optic, a posterior surface () defining a posterior side of the optic, and an edge () arranged between the anterior and posterior surfaces. The edge and the posterior surface can form an angle, where the angle is less than about 90 degrees. Additionally, the ophthalmic lens can have an increased vault height. At least one of the angle or the increased vault height be configured to increase pressure on a capsular bend in a subject's eye.

Intraocular lenses for reducing the risk of posterior capsule opacification

A system and method of customizing at least one characteristic for an intraocular lens include includes measuring at least one biometric parameter of an eye simulating a corneal spherical aberration and an anterior chamber depth of the eye, and empirically calculating a post-operative spherical aberration at an iris or pupil plane of the eye, based on a regression formula including the corneal spherical aberration, the anterior chamber depth, and the biometric parameter(s), in order to obtain a desired postoperative condition.

Apparatus, system and method to account for spherical aberration at the iris plane in the design of an intraocular lens

An intraocular lens for providing enhanced vision includes an optic having a clear aperture having an outer diameter. The optic has opposing first and second surfaces disposed about an optical axis, the first surface including a cross-sectional profile. The optic further includes central and outer zones that fill the entire clear aperture of the optic. The central zone is disposed about the optical axis having an outer diameter, the profile in the vicinity of the central zone having a constant radius of curvature or a radius of curvature that increases with increasing radius from the optical axis. The outer zone is disposed about the central zone, the profile in the outer zone having a base curvature with a base radius of curvature and a center of curvature, the profile in the outer zone characterized in that, as the distance from the optical axis increases, the distance from the center of curvature of the base curvature also increases. Multizonal lens with enhanced performance

Apparatuses, systems, and methods for producing a lens surface through electrowetting. The lens surface may be used in an ophthalmic lens such as an intraocular lens, contact lens, or eyeglass lens. A fluid chamber may include a conductive fluid and a curable fluid positioned therein. An electrode may be used to vary a shape of a surface of the curable fluid through electrowetting. The surface of the curable fluid may be cured to produce a lens surface.

Electrowetting and photo curing for manufacturing of ophthalmic lenses

Embodiments of this invention relate to the generation of wavefronts for measurements, diagnostics, and treatment planning for ophthalmic applications. In some embodiments, a wavefront generator generates light having a uniform wavefront, which is focusable on the retina of an emmetropic eye by the normal function of the emmetropic eye. In some embodiments, the wavefront generator can generate light having a custom wavefront which is not focusable on the retina of the emmetropic eye. In some embodiments, the wavefront generator can receive information relating to an optical aberration of the eye, generate a custom wavefront, and project light having this custom wavefront, which in combination with the optical aberration of the eye is focusable on the retina.

Wavefront generation for ophthalmic applications

An intraocular lens, and a system and method of customizing at least one characteristic for an intraocular lens, in accordance with a regression that indicates the postoperative spherical aberration at the iris plane of a patient aphakic eye, in order to obtain a desired postoperative condition. The lens, system and method of customizing at least one characteristic of an intraocular lens may include measuring at least one biometric parameter of an eye at a desired light level, determining a desired postoperative condition of the eye, obtaining a corneal spherical aberration and an anterior chamber depth of the eye, and empirically calculating a spherical aberration at an iris or pupil plane of the eye, based on a regression formula comprising at least the corneal spherical aberration and the anterior chamber depth, and cross products thereof.

A method, system and apparatus for vision correction are disclosed. The method, system and apparatus include a toric intraocular element for correcting astigmatism and having a cylinder power, and a depth of focus extender coupled to the toric intraocular element, the depth of focus extender extending a depth of focus. The extended depth of focus may reduce sensitivity of the toric intraocular element to at least one of rotation and selected cylinder power.
