Systems and methods are provided that allow a secure processing system (SPS) to be implemented as a hard macro, thereby isolating the SPS from a peripheral processing system (PPS). The SPS and the PPS, combination, may form a secure element that can be used in conjunction with a host device and a connectivity device to allow the host device to engage in secure transactions, such as mobile payment over a near field communications (NFC) connection. As a result of the SPS being implemented as a hard macro isolated from the PPS, the SPS may be certified once, and re-used in other host devices without necessitating re-certification.

A mobile communication device has a processor, a radio, a near field communication (NFC) device, a battery, and memory for storing data. The power level of the battery is measured. When the measured power level is above a first predetermined level, power is provided to the radio to allow communication. Sufficient power is provided to operate the NFC device as a reader and a tag. When the measured power level of the battery falls below the first predetermined level, battery power to the radio is shut off. Sufficient power is maintained to the NFC device to allow it to operate only as a tag. Sufficient power is maintained to the memory to retain the data stored in the memory. When the measured power level of the battery falls below a second predetermined level, the NFC device is required to harvest all of its power from the field.

Certain aspects of a method and system for providing wireless communication may comprise encoding within a single chip, FM audio data received by a FM radio. The encoded received FM audio data may be translated within the single chip to a Bluetooth compatible format. The translated received FM audio data may be communicated to at least one off-chip Bluetooth enabled device via the Bluetooth radio via at least one of the following: a synchronous connection oriented (SCO) link, an extended SCO (eSCO) link, and an advanced audio distribution profile (A2DP) link. The received FM audio data may be communicated via a dedicated link that couples the FM radio to a PCM interface that handles the encoding.
