An electrical connection system comprises a connector shell and a plurality of wafer connectors that plug into the connector shell. Each wafer connector holds a plurality of electric terminals that are attached to ends of electric cables, and a lock bar that is attached to the connector shell to retain the wafer connectors in the connector shell. The connector shell has an upper wall, a lower wall and side walls that are spaced apart to define a stack of wafer connector compartments that extends from the upper wall to the lower wall, an uppermost compartment being defined in part by the upper wall and an lowermost compartment being defined in part by the lower wall. The side walls each have slots in their confronting surfaces for each compartment in the stack of wafer connector compartments for locating a wafer connector in each compartment, the slots being longitudinal and open ended so that a wafer connector can be inserted longitudinally into each compartment from an insertion end of the shell.

Electrical connection system having wafer connectors

An electrical/electronic system architecture for a vehicle includes a plurality of regions partitioning the vehicle, with each region having a regional electrical/electronic controller (REEC) and at least one local network partitioning each region, with each local network having an electrical/electronic device. The electrical/electronic system architecture includes a global power distribution network that distributes power from a power source to the REEC within each region and a regional power distribution system that distributes the power from the REEC to the local network. The electrical/electronic system architecture also includes a global communication network that provides serial data communication between the REECs in the regions and a regional communication network communicating with the global communication network, such that the regional communication network provides data communication between the REEC and the local network within the region.

Electrical/electronic system architecture

An electrical distribution center electrically interconnects electrical and electronic devices and electrical connectors of wiring harnesses. The electrical distribution center comprises a main bus plate that includes a plurality of stamped metal circuit components that are insert molded in an insulation board. The stamped metal circuit components have a plurality of male blade terminals that project outwardly of the insulation board and that include wire receiving slots. The main bus plate is sandwiched between upper and lower bus plates that each include a plurality of wire circuit components in an insulated routing board that has slots extending through it. The male blade terminals of the main bus plate project through the slots of the upper and lower bus plates for connection with the electrical and electronic components and the electrical connectors of the wiring harnesses. The wire receiving slots of selected male blade terminals receive the wire circuit components of the upper and lower bus plates as the selected male blade terminals pass through the slots to provide bussing between various male blade terminals.
