A system and method for writing bistable media with a writehead is described. The media has two or more discrete write areas, each area defined by at least one electrical contact, and the media further has at least one alignment feature positioned with regard to one or more discrete write area. The writehead has corresponding alignment features and electrical conductors to the alignment features and electrical contacts of the media.

Indexing writehead for bistable media

An ocular device includes a housing, a rotatable ring, a first prism fixed in the rotatable ring, an indexable ring and a second prism fixed in the indexable ring. The housing has a stepped inner profile defining first and second circular tracks in the housing, the tracks being concentric about a rotational axis. The rotatable ring is disposed in the first circular track and is freely rotatable about the rotational axis with respect to the housing. The indexable ring is disposed in the second circular track and is indexable about the rotational axis.

A process for skiving a substrate is described, wherein the substrate is skived with a roller or a device or apparatus including the roller. The roller provides a cleaner skive than previously known methods without damage to underlying materials.

Process for removing material from a substrate

Methods and apparatuses are provided for assembling a structure on a support having a pattern of binding sites. In accordance with the method, a first fluid is provided on the surface of the support with the first fluid being of a type that that increases viscosity when heated, the first fluid having first micro-components suspended therein each adapted to engage the binding sites. The first fluid proximate to selected binding sites is heated to increase the viscosity of the responsive fluid proximate to the selected binding sites so that the first micro-components suspended in the first fluid are inhibited from engaging the selected binding sites.

A display, a signage system including the display, and methods of writing the display, are described, wherein the system includes at least one looped scroll of bistable display media and at least one electronic writehead. The entire display can be written by using the writehead to address individual sections of the display media by moving the writehead relative to the media.

A continuous stream ink jet printer is provided having an ink droplet forming mechanism for ejecting a stream of ink droplets having a selected one of at least two different volumes toward a print medium and a droplet deflector and ink conduit which are integrally formed to the printhead for producing a flow of gas that interacts with the ink droplet stream to separate droplets having different volumes and collects all droplets not used for printing. The provision of integrally forming the gutter system with the droplet forming mechanism eliminates the requirement to align an external gutter system upon full print engine assembly.

Continuous ink jet printing apparatus with integral deflector and gutter structure

A support and a method for assembling micro-components to binding sites on the support are provided. The support has a pattern of electrical conductors adapted to conduct electrical energy between binding sites. In accordance with the method, an electrical signal is passed through at least one conductive path including at least one of the conductors so that heat is generated by a portion of each conductive path proximate to the binding sites, a first fluid is applied to the support that is adapted to increase in viscosity when heated, and, a carrier fluid having first micro-components adapted to engage the binding sites is applied to the support. Wherein the heat from the at least one conductive path increases the viscosity of the first fluid in areas proximate to the selected binding sites so as to inhibit first micro-components from engaging the binding sites.

A display formed by skiving with a skiving device including at least one nozzle tip and at least one roller is described. The display has skives that are clean and neat, and has no damage to layers underlying the skived areas.

A method of forming a display including three conductive layers is described. The display is driven by contacting a third conductive layer and a second conductive layer, wherein the second conductive layer transmits current to the first conductive layer, and an electric field is generated between the first and third conductive layers.

Skiving device and methods of use

A bottle and bottle closure assembly for draining a solution contained within a bottle, the bottle closure assembly. The bottle has a base section, a body portion extending from the base and terminating into a neck portion having an outlet through which the solution may pass. A seal is secured to the neck portion so as to cover the opening such that the seal will retain solution within the bottle. A cap member has rupture members designed to assist in the rupture of the seal.
