A disclosed method includes loading a driver stack for an industrial automation control (IAC) communication protocol into a management controller of a server, connecting the management controller to an IAC network interconnect, and communicating with the driver stack to perform operations for integrating the management controller into the IAC network as a remotely manageable resource of the IAC network. The integrating may include discovering the management controller, obtaining configuration information from the management controller, indicative of a configurable management controller resource, and configuring a setting of the resource. The configurable management controller resource may be a network interface card (NIC) and the configurable setting may be an Internet protocol (IP) address of the NIC. In at least some embodiments, the driver stack is a PROFINET stack and performing the operations includes Discovery and Basic Configuration Protocol (DCP) requests and responses.

In one embodiment, an apparatus includes a filter operable to block visible light from passing through a transparent structure at a wavelength corresponding to the wavelength used by a visible light communications network operable in an area containing the transparent structure. In one embodiment, a device in a network maintains a topology database of one or more topologies of entities in the network. The device identifies a replacement entity that has physically replaced a particular one of the entities in the network. The device determines whether client information regarding one of more clients of the replacement entity matches client information in the topology database associated with the replaced entity. The device sends an alert when the neighbor or client information of the replacement entity does not match the neighbor or client information in the topology database associated with the replaced entity.

Both the one or more keywords and the geolocation information are supplied as input to a geo-targeting advertisement service so as to cause the geo-targeting advertisement service to identify relevant content based on both the geolocation information and the one or more keywords. The geo-targeting advertisement service provides one or more advertisements to an endpoint device for display, wherein the advertisements are based on the one or more keywords and the geolocation information.

By utilizing a network ID tag (i.e., a switch identifier) corresponding to a network switch, a network management platform on a server may access network devices that exist behind the network switch. Network cache systems are used to improve network performance and reduce network traffic. An improved network cache system that uses a centralized shared cache system is disclosed. When one of the cache devices that shares the centralized shared cache system stores a new content resource to the centralized shared cache system, that cache device transmits a broadcast message to all of the peer cache devices. Embodiments of the present invention may establish a set top box client based apparatus. The set top box client based apparatus may actively monitor content playback by the set top box. Embodiments of the invention may recognize that some service providers may use a policy system and OSS, while others will only utilize an OSS for resource management.

In one embodiment, a method includes obtaining an object associated with a host server and determining if the object includes an indication that identifies a first zone. The method also includes identifying a message contained in the object if the object includes the indication that identifies the first zone, and creating a formatted notification if the object includes the indication. The formatted notification includes a representation of the message. Finally, the method includes broadcasting the formatted notification within a network.
